kingkong Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Hi fellow Berlingo buddies  Just bought a 2007 1.6 petrol and have a question... How do i disable the dam seat belt reminder? Please don't remind me of safety etc. Just need a hack or fix as in my job i am in and out of the car every minute. Thanks in advance. Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I don't think you can disable it - but - there's a pressure sensor of some sort within the seat that detects as soon as bum touches seat. I agree! it's a bloody nuisance. Quote
kfk Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 the switch is in the seatbelt buckle.......go get a bit to push in it from a breakers yard! Quote
kingkong Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 the switch is in the seatbelt buckle.......go get a bit to push in it from a breakers yard! Has anyone else done this? With the Ford car there is a hack where you switch the lights on and off and then unbuckle and re buckle up 3 times. This is a brand new Berlingo. I dont want to start poking about and end up breaking something. Anyone else solved this puzzle? Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 You can always pull the passenger seat belt over and stick it in the drivers belt buckle receiver. Quote
kingkong Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 You can always pull the passenger seat belt over and stick it in the drivers belt buckle receiver. Not an option. Basically i work in a 2 man team flying around town outdoor marketing. 2 people are in the car at all times and every minute one or the other is jumping out of the car for one reason or another. Just want to kill the dam beep beep. It gets louder every minute. A real negative for this car me thinks. Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 It gets louder every minute. But it does cut out after a couple of minutes - at least mine does - until the next stop. Quote
kingkong Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 But it does cut out after a couple of minutes - at least mine does - until the next stop. Basically its a big brother control issue i do not want or need. When i go on normal drive mode then the seat belt gets buckled. To go 20 yards and have to buckle every time is pathetic. There MUST be a hack out there. Anyone ? Quote
kfk Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Without wishing to be rude.......i've told you what to do, the other option is book it into your local dealer and ask if they will turn it off for you.......but that will cost you if you find someone prepared to do it.So if you find the irritation this causes worse than the headache you will get when your head goes through the screen i suggest you do as i first said.......take a knife down the localbreakers yard and go cut a buckle off a citroen seat belt.......now that isnt rocket science, its a way of bypassing the buzzer.......of course if your journeys are as short as you say you could walk! kingkong Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 take a knife down the localbreakers yard and go cut a buckle off a citroen seat belt This is indeed a great idea. So you know for sure the switch is in the buckle clip? Thanks will bob down the scrap yard this week. Quote
hertsnminds Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 What about putting it into reverse then back into 1st. On the C4 putting the car into reverse silences the warning. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
iannez Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 "Basically its a big brother control issue i do not want or need" yea but it annoys macho idiots into wearing them and we all know how many lives are saved due to us being made to wear them by law. as someone else said why not walk. it will keep you fit and there will be less chance of you receiving terrible injuries if you have a crash due to you not wearing a seatbelt when as you put it flying around town. you never know, the walking might even make you loose a bit of weight so the seatbelt actually fits around you and then there will be no need to have it deactivated.  :o :o :o oooo how rude. The seat belt reminder chime in my macho idiot Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Limited beeps 3 times then goes off. This is quite acceptable. I don't need a constant Berlingo reminder getting louder and louder in my ears thanks and being over the age of 21 means i have that right as a car purchaser to choose not to be hassled to the point of insanity by such a pathetic gimmic installed in the vehicle :P If the car companies where that bothered about health and safety then why bother installing cancer stick cigarette lighters  Anyways thanks for the retarded reply was not rude but very amusing :D Quote
kingkong Posted November 14, 2007 Author Posted November 14, 2007 ake a knife down the localbreakers yard and go cut a buckle off a citroen seat belt.... Thanks again i have today done just as you said, popped down the scrap yard the one and only wrecked berlingo in there had 1 buckle left on it and it works a treat. No more bing bing bing!!! This is a great tip thanks again. Quote
