raymond Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 My C5 has a new problem which is the hand brake jammed after released and will take sometime to come back to normal and the front brake disc is hot after a short drive...Can some one help me? Quote
paul.h Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Possibilities could include brake pads seized in the calipers (were these free when replaced ?), cable not connected properly at the calipers, water in the cable which has frozen (this happened on a Saab I had - cured by greasing the cable and replacing the bellows at the cable end), cable damage. If you disconnect the cables at the calipers this will let you check if the cable is free in its sleeve. Quote

Hi Paul, I have checked the cables and both are free, only thing is when I tried to manipulate the lever at the caliper, they are damp tight and you really need alot of force to move them. I do recall this problem occurred when my front disc brake pads were at their limit and I wonder could this caused the problem? Thanks alot Quote

Thanks alotMy old Xantia used to eat cables, had to replace each one bi-yearly due to the steering on them, but if you've checked them then it's probably the mechanism that needs a bit of grease.
