paul.h Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 The red light will come on when it goes into ecomode i.e. if a light or some other electrical item is on for about 15 to 30 minutes after the engine is switched off, then the power is turned off automatically to save the battery. This is reset when the engine is started. Quote
Guest C1millstone Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I had a C3 Desire 1.4 hdi on an 04 plate. My car started to show the battery charging light as it "COOKED" the alternator. It was so well "cooked" the dealer couldn't autopsy it to find out why it happened!!.Beware you could see the steam if you were to spit on it.C1millstone Quote
stimulator Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 If this occurs when the engine is running it shows that the alternator charging circuit is no longer producing more voltage than the battery so the battery is discharging and suppling the car power. Usual suspect would be the diode pack in the alternator or the brushes are worn/sticking. Get it checked. Quote
