Hi,

Citroen do an extended warranty (little known). Costs over £300 for 4 years and 120 000 miles. Would cover most of your problems, though not the timing belt, corrosion or wear. The dealers don't allways know about the warranty, but it's worth persevering. I've just had my estate tailgate window fixed (again) under it.

Unfortunately the prices kook about normal for a main dealer, but an independent or specialist would be cheaper if the warranty route does not work out.

are you recommending the he purchases a warranty and then makes a claim against it for repairs?........if this is what your saying i think you will find this is fraud.

Point is to help prevent others ending up in the same unfortunate position, especially since the 3rd year's maker's warranty only goes up to 60000 miles (it's unlimited for the first two years).

You probably have to extend the warranty before the end of the third year, but it's worth checking.

Need to fix anything that's presently broken on the car, but a warranty would help with things that you are concerned may go in the future.

Thanks for the advice, no i wasnt offered an extended warranty.still feel robbed that after only 4 months after warranty runs out its going to cost me over £1,000. only done 36000 miles.

just hope its the last for a bit(well couple of years anyway)

I think servicing and repairs such a rip off prices now a days. they make the cars, so you cant do anything yourself anymore.

Again thanks for your time and help

Have you tried asking an independent garage to quote, most of what you mention doesent really need a main dealer and shouldnt trouble any half decent independent garage. You may not save much on parts but I find the labour costs are generally much more reasonable. You just need a garage you know you can trust.

Sorry to hear about your problems, mine is not quite 3 years old, 95k on the clock with no worries except rear screen to date. Try a small authorised repairer and independent for second opinion and price.

BTW where are you located?

to quote from citroen "Please contact your dealer now for further information or call 0800 5879808 to request an information pack."

this is for the extended warranty.

The rear screen takes about 20 minutes, 1m of 25mm wide electrical tape and either a small amount of soldering or connection block fixing. Not worth replacing the glass for as it will only go again.

Download the pictorial instructions from the C5 Yahoo group. Easy for even a basic level of DIY ability.

Did mine just over a year ago and no problems since. Save £300+ if you have no extended guarantee.
