Hi there everyone, just purchased an 02 plate C5 2.2 HDi Exclusive, with full dealer history and 64k. Had the anti pollution warning come up in the first couple of days, which has now stopped, (could it be because the car was stood at the dealership for a length of time?) I'm just getting the 'fuel additive minimum level' popping up occasionally now and the car seems fine, very comfortable and a good drive too considering I got rid of a 51 plate 320d for the C5. Also I need to get the wheels balanced - does the C5 have locking wheel nuts as I havent found any in the car? Its got the alloys that dont look like alloys if that makes any sense. Look forward to using this forum over the coming months

Both the wheel wobble problem and anti pollutant messages are well documented here, please use the Search function.

If the car is originally fitted with alloy wheels, there's a wheel lock fitted to each wheel and you should have been given two matching adapters to fit your particular bolts.

Cheers for the help guys, I'm going to try and seek out an independent to sort out the DPF issue, as I'm not paying £4-900 for a sodding filter. The reason I got rid of the beemer was because I blew the turbo at 125k costing me a preposterous £1700, flogged it for £5700, bought the C5 for £3750 - bill paid, and now this! If it wasnt for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all!

Who said the filter is that price? My receipt for the filter shows about £145+VAT. Fluid £70-ish plus VAT.

The ECU will need to be reset after the fix. No point going anywhere unless they can do that.

I've read loads of posts that this filter, fluid & ECU change is a minimum of £400 on this site, I'm going to be bookling it in with Citraulix in Bradford soon an indy specialist, they say they've got all the latest diagnostic equipment the main dealers have got plus the gear for balancing the wheels, so will keep you posted on the bill when I get it

That's good as there are quite a few forum members looking for good independents in your area.

I have a good independent in my area, Kent. Anyone in Kent can send me a PM and I'll pass details on.

Just got the car back from citraulix, they ended up performing a forced regeneration of the particle filter and a topping up of the fluid for £115, said the filter doesn't need replacing, they couldn't reset the ECU though and said it needs replacing at a cost of £87, so I'm going to wait on it for a couple of weeks and see what happens, but performance seems to have improved and appears to be approaching what I'd expect for a 2.2 136bhp modern diesel, so we'll see what happens. Next jobs (they seem endless already) are replace the trim off the headlamp washer, the rattle from the steering column, the drivers side window which wont come all the way down and upgrading the truly abysmal stereo system!
