As with lots of C5 owners with the 2L diesel engine - I am currently experiencing real issues with anti pollution fault light. This has caused the car to completely lose all power at worst, at best to restrict the engine to no more than 3000 revs.

Fortunately I have kept the car away from expensive Citreon dealers who don,t seem to have a clue and only want your money! - and have found a really good local garage who recons the fault is the air flow meter, at least that is what we hope it is, car goes in next week for this work to be done. Will keep everone posted.

Has anyone told Watchdog about this as Citreon obviously do not want to know about this extremly common fault ??.

Hi I read with interest the problems you were experiencing in respect of anti-pollution message faults. As I am experiencing similar problems - can you say whether you had any success with the garage?

thanks,

You didn't say how many miles your C5 has done. The problem you have is the result of the advanced technology that makes modern diesel engines cleaner. Saving the planet comes at a price.

This is limp home mode. It would be interesting to know what year your car is, as not all C5s have the full system with DPF and Eolys tank.

If it's the Mass Air Flow sensor it should take all of 10 minutes to change, but the diagnostic will indicate an air mass flow sensor fault. The local garage will still need to be able to clear fault codes.

Swirl control valves and MAP sensors can also give similar warnings.

The extremely common part of the fault is sometimes caused by people not having the DPF changed or Eolys topped up when needed.
