siwel Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Hello All, I drove for the first time a C3 (52, 2003 model 1.4SX) last night, it was a friends car they had just bought and I was driving back from the garage to their home for them. I just wanted to check if the way the clutch pedal/accelerator pedal biting point worked was normal. There seemed to be a mechanism that prevented the accelerator pedal being depressed more that about 1/2 way down when the clutch pedal was pressed, then when you got the biting point and released the clutch you could feel something disengage in the pedal box and then you could fully depress the accelerator pedal. I presumed it was there to prevent people burning out the clutch and after a few minutes of driving it presented no problems and I could happly pull away on hill starts even if the hills were steep. I just wondered if this was a normal thing to happen for a C3 or it is a fault with the pedal box? Thanks. Quote
paul.h Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Welcome to the forum. There is nothing like this on our 2003 1.4sx petrol. Is the floor mat/carpet getting in the way ? The clutch pedal and accelerator pedal are completely separate. The accelerator one is held on by 2 bolts and has wires coming from it that give its position to the engine control unit. It will have an internal spring that causes it to go up. A new one is about £40 if it is faulty. Quote

stimulator Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 You don't say whether this is a 1.4SX HDi or a 1.4SX Perol On the HDi they have a system that stops the engine stalling at slow speeds. with your foot of the clutch if you bring the clutch up the car will start to move but the engine will increase in revs enough to stop it stalling. You get about 7 mph in 1st 13in second 20 in third. The feeling is rather odd as you can feel the acceleration but your not the one requesting it.this allows you to creep in a traffic queue without having to press the accelerator Quote
