Hi All,

I have a leak on my Anti-sink valve at the plastic plug end? it seems the seal between the plastic plug & valve housing is leaking. Does anyone know of a quick fix ? if I have to replace the valve, is it a striaght forward job? any tips would be a great help. Forgot to mention my Xantia is the 1.8 16 valve model.

Thanks john.

Get it changed pronto. When I had a Xantia my front anti-sink developed a slight leak. Suddenly it dropped all the LHM. Unfortunately I was in Spain and had to be flat-bedded for 40miles. To be on the safe side I changed the rear one when I got home. It's fairly easy to do. Have a split ring spanner to undo the unions and change over the unit. To do the front you need access from underneath and also the battery out. I don't think there's an overhaul kit for them.

Thanks John, Im not 100% sure the part thats leaking is the Anti-sink valve, its directly under the LHM tank, is it the anti-sink? Do i need to fit new seals to the pipes when reconnecting?

Thanks John.

The cap is metall, not plastic. you can screw it off and change the o-ring. part no: 402687.

Thats an o-ring from a hydraulic pump but it's perfect for the job:)

Thanks Activaturbo, If it just screws off, then that would be an easy fix. I just hope the cap hasnt been put on with locktight?? I will try & have a go at unscrewing the cap tonight. Do I need to place the car on its lowest setting to depresurise the system?? Do I need to depresurise the system?

no locktite. place the car on its lowest setting, let the engine run at the lowest setting for five minutes or so.

anti sink valve/sphere is on the rear in the center of the car if you don't know what your doing it could be fateful due to the pressure held in there

i know the where the spere is but where is anti sink valve for the front?

this bit of quote : To be on the safe side I changed the rear one when I got home. It's fairly easy to do. Have a split ring spanner to undo the unions and change over the unit. makes me think there is a seperate valve for the front and rear, is this the case?

bye

ahh then that's easier because I have the same car and it doesn't have a front anti sink valve unless its the Hydractive 2 active then its more like the C5,

the basic xantia hasn't changed much in years apart from the anti sink sphere on the rear and the one on the front is the Main accumulator sphere and the part that leaks on the bottom is a pressure bypass or relief valve and if you have a problem there the system flow return pipes are probably the issue

aha so the xantia only has one anit sin valve for the entire system? yes mine is a simpler non hydractive non activa, thank goodness

Hi All,

Get it changed pronto. Mine on my 2.1 Xant started with a drip. It suddenly dumped all the LHM requiring the car to be flat-bedded to a garage. As a precaution, I replaced the rear one as well. Not a big job. Four or five unions to undo. Get some new seals - the old ones tend to stick inside the bores.
