After my recent experience with trying to change the front brake pads on my C5 HDI and getting into some problems because I didn't know the correct procedure ( helped by KFK ..Thanks to him ), I'm being more carefull and asking for advice before starting a job .

I need to renew the desiel filter on my C5 2.0 hdi 51 reg , it's a Bosch filter.

What is the procedure for replacing the filter ?

Thanks bigdavie you make it sound easy and alot of fun.....

Is there no need to bleed ?

I like the idea of chucking the engine cover away.

Thanks for help.

no need to bleed as its supposedly automatic but I recommend filling the filter with diesel so it helps the system recover faster

Thanks "techbod" , it has a nut shaped lump on the top , I take it this gets turned to remove the lid.

Is this ok with the pipes on the lid still in place??

If you have pipes leading into the top of the lid and also an electrical connector, they need to be released before you turn off the outer ring. Only the outer ring moves. The top is separate. You might have a later fuel filter without pipes on the top but only a 27mm hex nut. Use a close fitting socket to move it.

It has 2 pipes , no electrical connection and a nut shape on the top .

It looks as if the pipes have those push-in quick release fittings.

Thanks for contribution.
