bluecarwayne08 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hi there, have a problem with drivers side rear break which keeps grinding,on inspection I could not see any problems, pads were only half worn, cleaned corrosion from disc . Took car on test and still the same, Could it be that the caliper is sticking? Would be grateful for any advice. regards Wayne Quote

Johndouglas Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Could it be that the caliper is sticking? Maybe - it could also be the problem that this form of suspension has been plagued with since the first BX came onto the road - that is a buildup of corrosion between the caliper and the suspension arm. It can build up to a thickness of 2mm, pushing the caliper out of position and causing all sorts of noises. It's been well covered on the forum. Use the search feature. Quote

Johndouglas Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Is that why the Mark 2 C5's have 16" wheels for more clearance ? I don't think so. I think 16" wheels on Mk2's is all part of modern design which calls for larger and larger diameter wheels. The corrosion problem between the trailing arm and caliper has been around since the BX came off the drawing-board. One would have expected Citroen to have overcome the trouble by now. A waxed paper gasket would have done the trick. Quote
