Trakie Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hi. My first question is that the central locking has got a mind of its own. The locks keep going up and down on their own accord. The passenger door will not open anymore to get the panel off to have a look. The lock on the passengers door doesnt seem to be going up all the way. Can anybody help. The second question is do the drive shafts on both sides need changing every couple of years. The garage has told me this when they were changed for the second time. Is it true or are they ripping me off. The reason they were changed both times was because there was a knocking noise when going round corners. :o Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 The second question is do the drive shafts on both sides need changing every couple of years. Sometimes because the rubber gaiter has got damaged and allowed dirt to get in. On all of our present cars none have needed new driveshafts - and they've all just had MOT's. A knocking noise could indicate a worn CV joint, but not twice in two years - unless they used a 2nd hand shaft. Quote
techbod Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 cental locking means you have a problem and normaly down to earth point on the doors ( one door not responding ) Quote
techbod Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 drive shafts? more like C/V joints ( the outer will fail before the inner ) and they cant be interchanged but you can buy outer and inner separate from the drive shaft Quote
