Guest ---DAF--- Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hi, i posted here a couple weeks ago reg my cars exploding engine parts. It was the plenum chamber, it was replaced by the garage at £240!! I have had problems since such as : Engine warning light on then off then on then off for good.Nasty petrol smell in car.slight juddering during acceleration.found pipes not tight and petrol squirting over Engine!!! (that was the petrol smell)fixed with £2 jubilee clip!! After fixing the major petrol leak the juddering worsened!!!! I had trouble starting it the first few times it does go but it does go very slow and judders when u try to accelerate at a normal rate, i have to creep up to speed!!! i have noticed that one of the tubes/hoses that were defineately attached before has been capped also?!? I have been advised this could well be the exhaust gas return and this would hamper performance?? once again i ask for help as i really want my car back to normal :( HELP, anyone? Many thanks DAF Quote
techbod Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 all the vacuum lines and EGR pipe have to be fitted ( if the EGR valve is still in the system and the pipe has been blanked you will have response problems ) it cant see the valve so will throw it into limp mode Quote
kfk Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Plastic plenum chambers exploding......usually caused by a missfire.......so have you changed the plugs and checked the coil? Quote
Guest ---DAF--- Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Hi Thanks guys, i shall call the garage today and ask whats and whys, at least now i have something to ask them rather than take it back and not know what the hells going on!!! Thanks again!! DAF. Plastic plenum chambers exploding......usually caused by a missfire.......so have you changed the plugs and checked the coil? Quote
techbod Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I agree with kfk here because the problem wasn't solved and fitting a new intake manifold was just a cash cow so it might happen again ( they get rich through this sort of practice ) and we don't need it,when they do a job like this it would be nice of them to tell you what caused the problem! Guest ---DAF--- Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 they did say it was due to a backfire that caused the problem in the first place but i dont see how considering it happened as soon as i turned the engine over within first 2 strokes i predict. litterally a second into starting up and its a first time starter everytime, still is actually??? but even when idle now it has problems intermittantly and judders, pushing the accelaerator while in neautral rev's wonderfully, as it should (this may poss be why they didnt notice problem) , but as soon as under pressure ie going uphill!!! Its soooo bad its embarrassing. I will be taking it to local citroen dealer tomorro and asking their advice then calling the garage back again to see what they will do about it. many thanks again for your help ppls Daf Quote
Guest ---DAF--- Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I didnt call them today as i had the stupid thought it may fix itself.......... i know stupid. Quote
techbod Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 never fix it yourself when you paid for it Quote
Guest ---DAF--- Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 never fix it yourself when you paid for it I went away, took the Pajero, came back drove the car and some buggers fixed it!!!!! I have my suspitions that being in cornwall it was the piskies........ Or. Considering the car was U/S for over a week with it guts hangin out and no rags to stop moisture as i know i should........... It was possibly moisture in the mixture/plenum chamber. It still seems slower to respond though and feels like its been restricted ;) Never mind ay its workin better than last week. Thanks fer your input again guys  DAF Quote
