stimulator Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Passing by GSF in Worthing the other day decided to buy new wiper blade. This year they have had a hard life and the screen wasn't being wiped without lines caused by the blade edges having worn and the rear wiper blade the rubber was coming off. New set of Valco cost £33 which is a reduction of about £13 over the same set at halfords. Got them out of the box both the fronts have spoilers on them and went to fit them. Hang on the spoiler should be near the bonnet with the wipers parker but these were on the other side. Look at box again and there on the back a small picture and instruction on how to convert them for the UK. Push out centre pivot to arm mount and turn through 180 degrees, refit. Wipers fitted and the difference in the screen wiping is very noticeable. The others were two year old. Quote
paul.h Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Prices of wiper blades seem to have gone up a lot recently. The flat type are ridiculous, a front set for the C5 were over £40 last year, and most cars seem to have these now. I have found Valeo ones give the longest life and lowest noise. Quote
stimulator Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 I once lived in Saudi Arabia and used to buy my UK car wiper blades out there. OK the car didn't hget used much but the blades appeared to be of a better quality and obviously made for a higher temp range. Quote

Was look at flat blades for my C3 (05 plate), however the fittings don't appear to go with my wiper arm fitting i have a hook fitting and the flats i was looking at were a push fitting. Any ideas? Are flat blades that much better? :) Quote
stimulator Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 I don't have flat blades but the obvious advantage is they don't have pressure point on the blade so the complete blade rests on tyhe screen at the same pressure. Conventional blades have points where the arm sub segments rest on them. There must be a conversion kit to allow you to retrofit these to any car, ask the man at halfrauds Quote
paul.h Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Wiping efficiency of the flat blades on our C5 is no better than normal ones on our other cars. The part contacting the glass is similar to normal blades. Due to cost I have considered changing the arms so normal ones could be used. Quote
TheLoon Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Halfrauds a waste of time! Found a company called Wipex on the internet who do a flat blade upgrade kit for C3. 2 wipers for 19.99 plus postage change out of £23. Ordered one morning delivered next morning. Fitted in seconds, took me longer to remove my existing wipers!! I think they make a difference. I might have to wait a bit for the rain as the sun is splitting the trees at the moment. :o Quote
