Guest elation2 Posted October 15, 2008 Share Posted October 15, 2008 hi i have a zx 1.4i elation 1996, i just had the car back from having head fixxed. the problem is that the car got to about 90Oc temp and the rad still didnt kick in so i was wondering what sort of temp does it kick in, or meant to kick in Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Johndouglas Posted October 15, 2008 Share Posted October 15, 2008 The thermostat begins to open when the temperature reaches 89C. It should be fully open at 99C. techbod Posted October 15, 2008 Share Posted October 15, 2008 did they fit a new thermostat? if not then why because this could have been the problem that caused the head gasket to go in the first place,watch the temp gauge when its up to temp then accelerate the engine an see if the fan cuts in if it doesn't then you still have a problem and it will overheat then your back to square one Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
