Guest Visa10E Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Just had my 02 C5 2.2 HDi Exclusive MOT'd, and luckily it sailed through, however the mechanic said there was a 'light misting' of oil on the shocks as an advisory and to 'keep an eye on it' anyone know if this is normal as he acknowledged that the H3+ suspension is very different to most cars, and if they had been properly coated in oil (I assume he means the fluid from the spheres) then it would have failed the MOT. Car has done nearly 83,000 miles Quote
techbod Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 the misting is probably down to failing shocks so they need chainging also could be failing seals Quote
myglaren Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Hang on a minute there guys! Shocks? On an hydraulic Citroen? That's the hydraulic rams. There should be a trace of lubricant on them to prevent sticking and corrosion, surely (just a trace, not LDS weeping down them!). Quote
Big Al Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Ditto. Quite normal to have a little dampness here. Don't forget a lot of MOT testers are on autopilot -don't understand weird stuff like Citroen suspension. Rare to get a signficant failure before 125k miles. Quote
