hobbsy Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Can anyone help with a problem I've encounted with a Local Peugeot dealer who changed the timing belt on my C5 2002 model. The question is do you have to remove the undershield as part of the process along with the right hand front plastic wheel guard in order to allow work to replace the Timing Belt? My Haynes C5 manuel says you do. The peugeot dealer says you don't. I ask this because the tining belt was changed by this dealer and on taking a long distance motorway drive three days later. The front of the undershield fell down onto the road furface and broke off. Your knowledge would be most appriciated. hobbsy Quote
coastline taxis Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 yes the underguard and the inner wheelarch has to come of to allow acsess to the crankshaft pully and timming belt cover Quote
coastline taxis Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 forgot to mention that some will say that you just need to take the inner wheel arch of to get acsess but we always take both of. These undertray bolts are little pigs and prone to siezing or snapping the plastic and 9 out of 10 leave us with zip fastners holding them in place. A lot of people will tell you to leave them of but they stop all the road ***oops*** going up into the engine Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I haven't done a timing belt since I did my 2.1 Xantia but no way could that be done with the undertray on. How can you take the weight of the engine on a jack with the tray in the way? Think your dealer is pulling the wool. Quote

I was told that the Undershield was taken off but it was already broken and their technician had tried to fixed it as best he could without telling anyone!!!!! So they said it was an accident waiting to happen!!! They did however give me a price for replacing it. You can imagine my reply. Quote
