Guest Bodger Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Are there any warning signs of a worn belt or do you just replace every so many miles....???? Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Not usually any warning. They just suddenly let go. Occasionally if something has started an edge to fray, you might hear a clicking noise. Best to replace a bit before the recommended mileage. Also consider changing water pump and pulleys and auxiliary belt at the same time. Quote
myglaren Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Tensioners too - the bearings go and rip the belt to shreds or skew and let it ride off the pulleys. Quote
Randombloke Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 The 406 just developed this - looks like the auxiliary belt so it's gone on off to Mid Kent Vehicle Services. Pete has ordered the auxiliary belt, hoping it's not the cam belt...... at least it got there under its own steam without a breakage...... Quote
