rickyxsara Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I know tronboy is getting a new one but has anybody else got the 92bhp model yet???? Quote
tronboy Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 It's at the dealers now..... Having a few extras fitted, so I won't see it for a week or two....... Quote
rickyxsara Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Lets have the piccies a.s.a.p. Thanks. Quote
tronboy Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Will oblige as soon as! Believe it or not, I can't pick it up yet because Citroen haven't contacted the ABI to get an insurance group. They've unofficially told me it's 5e, but my insurers won't take my word for it. TronX Quote
DickieG Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I'm seriously contemplating updating mine but having difficulty in firstly locating a 92 BHP HDi in Med blue with aircon, then secondly trying to get it fitted with cruise control. Apparently Citroen UK now object to dealers retro fitting it despite the www.citroen.com website stating it is available as an option complete with 'speed control' which stops you accelerating beyond a set limit. Ahh red tape, bloody red tape and Cit Uk B) All I want to do is buy one of their cars with an option that is offered in France by Citroen and over here By Pug, give me strength (to strangle the fool responsible!) Quote
tronboy Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Get it retro-fitted by a sympathetic Pug Dealer...... Pics uploading, will post soon! Quote
tronboy Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 First impressions, M'space Forte SR, HDi16 92bhp: Much quieter than the 2.0HDi, and acceleration is brisk, although I'm not going to push it for the first 3,000 miles or so. It is marginally lower-geared than the 2.0, but economy looks to be better. Cosmetic changes inside are limited to the upholstery which seems to be much more robust than the 'fishnet' design of the earlier car. Just as well. I can't begin to think of how many times I've snagged the driver's seat in my outgoing Multispace. The dashboard and dials are identcal to my old car, but the tacho is calibrated differently. In my Med blue car, the trim is a rather nice shade of blue, but the cars which are fitted with the other colour scheme now have deep charcoal grey seats, almost black, which look dead classy! All models now get 4 Airbags and ABS which should put paid to reviewers' critcisms about 'lack of safety kit as standard'. The only operational difference to the interior is a repositioning of the rear internal door handles from the button on the handle down to the door card, together with a revised catch system to keep the rear door in the open position. Externally, the rear door handle no longer moves forward. Externally, there are revised light clusters at the rear with a clear centre section and mirrored reflectors and mirrored side repeater lenses on the front wings. 15" wheeled models gain Picasso-style wheeltrims with a chromed Citroen logo in the centre, but 14" versions make do with a trim similar to the vehicle it replaced. The side rubbing strips are wider, and the tacky "Multispace" badge is now on the corner of the rear door side window. There are no badges distinguishing the HDi from petrol models on the tailgate, and bizarrely, the poor old 'Lingo doesn't yet benefit from the funky stretched "Citroen" font on the rear badge, but makes do with the old '90s-style lettering. More discoveries as I discover them... Here's a pic of the old and new... TronX Quote
rickyxsara Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Nice car and health to enjoy. Do the seats seem firmer or just the same ? Quote
tronboy Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Thanks! They seem firmer.... and I don't think it's the result of the previous one having been softened by my excessive weight, but with 53,500 miles behind it I couldn't be sure! One other thing that could be my imagination but I don't think so, is the suspension appearing to be a bit softer. Quote
Terry1100 Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Tronboy, 1. Given that it's multiplexed, have they made the 'leccy windows work after the key is removed ? 2. Does it still have the "old" remote stereo controls or does it now have C2/C3 stalks with the controls on the end ? cheers Quote
tronboy Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 No, leccy window operation and stereo controls as per previous version. Sunroof works without ignition on, as per my previous car, but not my old S-reg, which makes me wonder if that circuit is an add-on and ignores the multiplex....... Quote
rickyxsara Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 My local dealer got one in this morning so had a good look round it. Tronboy virtually covered the changes in his post and I think the seats definately appear to be more supportive. I still haven,t driven one yet as the one he has in is sold. He hopes to put on a demo soon. First impressions are good but would really like to try the engine. :D Quote
northman Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Thanks for the review tronboy. Sound very nice. I'm still going to hold out for the Hdi 110, though. I'm sure I read that Fiat were going to be putting a JTD 120 engine in a Doblo. If they can do that, why shouldn't Citroen put a 110 in a Berlingo? Quote
tronboy Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 .......because the other engines in the Fiat are utter shite? Have you ever *driven* one of those things? I seriously think you've got a long wait. There are already two competant diesel engines in the new line-up, so why should they introduce a third? If you really want a 110bhp why not superchip a 92? I borrowed a Superchipped (up to 130 bhp!!) 2.0HDi and it was awesome! TronX Quote
DickieG Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 After reading Tronboys account I've decided to try and update mine but it may not be quite as easy as I would hope. I spoke to the dealer today, apparently there are no HDi 92 Desire's in Med blue with air con available at the moment so it looks like a factory order. The problem with that is trying to get Citroen UK to agree the same offer i.e. £1500 + 0% over 3years into the new year, whereas the present offer finishes at the end of December. I know Citroen always have offers available but with it being January, new year etc I doubt the one for that period will be as tempting. :D As far as the cruise control issue I've tracked down a couple of 'volunteers' ;) Quote
tronboy Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Hmmmmm... Mine was a factory order; aircon *and* a plastic roof is even rarer!. They said it would take 6 weeks for delivery but it took less than 4 to land in the UK. It was a very keen deal with the £1500 off. I'd be tempted to order one and make sure that the dealer takes the risk that it'll be here on time. Quote

TronX
The two 'offers' so far are outside of the dealer network. One is a specialist, the other a Citroen approved service centre. However, neither has actually done this particular job but see little reason why it should be a problem :D If I do manage to get hold of a new Berlingo and then get it fitted successfully I'll let you know. northman Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 <<Have you ever *driven* one of those things?>> No - what are they like? I gather that 1.9 JTD is a reasonable engine, but the other engines are pretty weedy. I have read that the car actually drives better with the weedy petrol engine than with the 1.9 JTD. <<I seriously think you've got a long wait. >> I'm a very patient man. <<There are already two competant diesel engines in the new line-up, so why should they introduce a third?>> The success of the Zafira VXR will force Citroen to think again. A couple of years down the road, we'll have the Berlingo VTR - possibly VTS. It'll be a real cult car. :D Quote

In France they already offer a pseudo off-roader in the form of the XTR, but VTR and VTS models? Aginst the Berlingo's philosophy I'd have thought. The Zafira is a much more upmarket offering! Quote
I believe, due to a couple of aftermarket cruise fitments resulting in accidents, that citroen have *deliberately* made the aftermarket fitment of cruise impossible this time round. Several people over at berlingo.info have added the parts but the ecu side has refused to play ball.... Quote
tronboy Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Doesn't surprise me. Even the stereo controls on the column now work differently (digitally) on the 55-reg models. this means that a non-approved 6-disc changer cannot be made to function with the head unit. Just noticed a couple more tweaks: *The seatbelt warning light is now accompanied by a three-tone warning beep when the car sets in motion. *The glovebox lid is now weighted and a fabric flap is attached behind it so that your pile of fuel receipts no longer risks getting sucked up into the heater fan. You can even get Citroen dealers to price match them if you don;t fancy dealing with an internet based company. Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote
DickieG Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 I've been offered a 92 HDi Desire with metallic for £10415 from the local dealers. Aircon £730 extra. I took a look at a new model earlier today, I must say the rear door opening mechanism is a big improvement. Most rear passengers really struggle to push the release button hard enough on my present Bling. On the new one the catch that keeps the door in the open position is no longer a lever locking on a pin on the bottom runner, its now a 'pinch' catch on the centre guide rail, much easier to close the door. I've decided to go for a new one but can't quite decide whether ESP is worth it at £400. The good news is that Citroen UK is holding the 0% 3 over years +£1500 off until the new car arrives :D Quote
