Hi

I've got the problem all mk 2 owner dread - my offside sidelight needs replacing.

I'm not keen to remove the bumper ( plus headlamp washers, parking sensors etc), so I was wondering if it's possible/advisable to disconnect the LDS fluid reservoir in order to get access to the back of the headlamp unit. It unbolts easy eneough, but I'm a bit concerned about disconnecting the hose.

Either that or it's main dealer job. Can't see me getting much change from £100 for a bulb replacement!

Crazy design. Good money for the dealers!

Thanks

I've had my bumper off twice - the replacement side light bulbs only lasted one year. Now I've replaced them with LEDs.

I think I'd rather remove the bumper than mess around taking out the LDS tank. Even with the lamp unit off the car it isn't all that easy to reach the sidelight bulb. I needed a pair of pointed pliers to reach it.

JD doesn't believe me but I've done it twice with the headlamp in place just by blind groping .Last time I unbolted one end of the bumper and used a lump of wood to hold it forward while I unbolted the headlamp .Wouldn't have taken long if I'd had the courage to pull the bumper hard !
