Hi

I just bought a 52plate 2.0hdi exclusive c5 estate and its got a few 'niggly' faults. Apart from a oil leak I hope to fix this weekend the multifunction display on the dash does not appear to be multifunction :) im assuming my car should have this feature?

It shows the date/time and radio when you turn it on, the display changes to the preset radio stations and back but it will not show mpg, trip distance or anything else it apparantly should do. The button on the end of the washer stalk does nothing and the buttons on the display have the same effect apart from changing the language. Should the tick button on the right hand side change the screen display?

Cheers

Is it colour or black and white, your display?

Cheers for the replys,

I looked on ebay for multiline displays and it appears to be the same as i have fitted. It just a simple black and white display.

Does anyone know if the button on the right hand side of the display should change the info screens?

Thanks for the offer but it appears I have the multiline display anyway. I just need to know if the button on the right hand side of the display should change the info screens or not. If the buttons not supposed to do anything ill pop the button off the wiper stalk, if its supposed to change the info on the screen then I have a different problem.

Would somebody who owns a working multiline screen mind pressing the button on the right hand side to see if the info changes please :)

Cheers

Hi , relatively new to the site but yes by pushing the end of the stalk in , it changes the pages on the display for example clock , range to empty , mpg . check control etc etc but I'm sure the rhs button on the display on mine only changes for 2 pages. Mines a 2003 model.

I used to have an 02 reg C5 SX and yes the button on the right hand stalk should bring up all the options like mpg, distance to refuel etc. The only time I had problems with it was when I blew a fuse - may be worth a check? Citroen's fuse labeling is a bit obtuse - I found one called "Navigation system" was causing the problem, and the car didn't have sat nav..

Have you tried the left hand stalk? that brought on auto-lights in mine, but yours may be different..

Right I took the wiper stalk apart and the fault is easily seen, the spring connector had snapped in two where the plunger onthe button press's it onto the pcb trace.

Im going to see if i can find a replacement spring connector on servicebox as I dont fancy buying a replacement wiperstalk for a 10p part.

Hi, there's a thread on here somewhere detailing how to repair the spring connector that is broken. Actually it's simply a case of soldering it back together. It is a bit tricky due to the small size of the part, but I did mine more than 2 years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since. One of the most satisfying fixes I have done since the only cost was a bit of time, and not being able to see the mutifunction readout is a real pain. I had exactly the same symptoms as you, and it is a fairly common fault. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi

Thanks very much for the replys everyone. Ive temporarily fixed the problem by borrowing the spring out of the headlight switch for the automatic lights. Ill get around to soldering a new contact onto the spring one day :)

Cheers again
