Hey there, I was wondering if somebody could help me. I bought my C3 just over 6 weeks ago, shes my first car and so far I've not had any problems. She went for MOT and full service on May 17th with no problems, I bought it shortly after. Just today on my drve home from work the engine warning light appeared on the dash and it started beeping like when you forget to put your seatbelt on. I've checked all oil/water/coolant levels, the engine runs as normal, there are no leaks or obvious damage under the bonnet. I was wondering if anybody had the same problem at any point and what they did to fix it? Its been suggested its an electrical fault and as there is nothing physically wrong with the car I can use it for the drive to and from work til I can get to a mechanic. Is this a good idea or should I just get the bus til it gets sorted? I'm so lost I really just want some advice from people who've been there before.

Many Thanks, Jodie

Did you buy it from a garage or was it a private sale? If it was the former, take it back and ask them to sort it. You should be covered by some sort of warranty.

If it was a private sale, I'd start with getting it plugged in and having the fault codes read. Should at least point you in the right direction.

What year, model, engine, mileage is the car ?

Our 1.4 sx 2003 petrol beeps when the petrol tank level is low and then there is also a low level light at the side of the gauge. It sometimes beeps a few times for no obvious reasons when I first start it up but there are no fault codes. The only time the engine management light came on was when a fuel injector failed when it got wet from rain leaking passed the wiper washer jets - a common fault, search for the posts on this but you need to seal the jets against the bonnet and check the washer piping below the jets are not leaking at the joints. It ran very poorly when the injector failed but the dealer replaced it under the warranty so no cost to me.

My car is a 1.4 petrol 2004, mileage 35,000. It was a private sale too yea. I had someone else mention leaks and fuel injectors, it was also a problem they had experience but was once again fixed for them under warranty. If it is this, does anybody know the price range of the repair? Also, my air con doesn't work, there is no noise from it whatsoever, it simply doesn't work, I've heard people can disconnect it, can I find anything under the bonnet and reconnect it myself?

For the air con to work, you need the cabin fan also on. If you then push the air con button you should hear a click under the bonnet from the compressor at the lower right side (looking to the front from inside the car) as its clutch is pulled in. If you have no noise then it is likely the system needs regassing - cost in the region of £100. Citroen/Kwik Fit/other garages will do this.

"engine warning light appeared on the dash"

Hi. Just bouncin around lookin for info about probs with my fan and thought I would let you know about my eng lite.

I've got a 1.4HDI on a 04 plate, its done 146,000 miles (yep all mine) and the lite has come on 4 times, funnily just after servicing.

the first 2 times I took it back "not fault sir, no reason...." it never affected the power or mpg, now I dont bother

(it's on now and due a service in 4500 miles).

As it's a new car to you, you mite want to get it looked at if only for peace of mind....

it indicates "ignition/ fuel injection or anti pollution"......if the car keeps running ok

then at worst you mite be putting out a bit much C02.

anyway good luck
