Guest Huggy Bear Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 My local main dealer service on June 15th revealed that a faulty suspension strut had recently caused damage to a brake hose, which now leaks. The part number for the leaky hose apparently is 4886v5. This part has been on back order from Citroen France for 5 weeks now with little sign of impending delivery or indeed of any positive response. I'm beginning to wonder if my car will ever get back on the road. A courtesy car was kindly provided by my main dealer for the first 3 weeks, but this had to be returned and I am now having to go to the expense of hiring a car privately. I have registered a complaint with customer services, Citroen UK - nothing positive from them so far. In desperation, I'm starting to look on line for proprietary brake line sets, but don't really know exactly what to look for, or if I'm likely to find a suitable alternative. Any ideas anyone? All replies would be welcome. Quote

Find it hard to belive that they havnt got a flexi instock have you tried other branches. We use town center citroen parts and there sh1t hot. Give them a ring its 01915168822 ask for wayne or dave.Depending on where you are they might be able to post it at your cost Quote

I guess it hinges on whether this part 4886v5 is a flexi brake pipe or not. I'll see if I can find out from the main dealer today. Or do you think your contacts, Wayne or Dave would know anyway? I live in Dorset, so a bit far to pop round unfortunately. Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Looking at the diagram, 4886v5 isn't the flexible hose, it's a pipe 4.75mm diameter and about 2feet long. Quote
Guest Huggy Bear Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 JohnDouglas. Thanks for looking up 4886v5 for me. It now starts to make a bit more sense that there is a supply problem with this part. But 5 weeks seems a bit much - especially with no glint on the horizon of it becoming available. Quote
coastline taxis Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 John What part is it. is it the return pipe for the hydraulics. im confused now Quote
Guest Huggy Bear Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Stop Press: Just had a phone call from Citroen Customer Services UK to tell me the part is now in stock - in France. Hooray for that - 5 weeks to the day since the car went in for a service. Now it's a race against time to get it here and on the car so that i can go on holiday next week! Thanks to Coastline and John for your trouble - looks like things might get resolved now. I think the confusion in my mind about the part was caused by Citroen, who insist on calling it a hose. Quote
