Guest Michel Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes, my C5 has a towbar but then again it always has, from new. It used to be OK but now 99% of the time the sensor howls as soon as I engage reverse. As well as being irritating it make the sensors no use, as they give the 'too close' signal all the time. Quote
Turbofan Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 It might sound a silly question but, has your ball hitch got a cover on it? I have a flange type tow hitch on My C5(3) and, when naked with shiny white metal tow ball exposed, the reversing sensors are really irritating. With the black shiny soft plastic tow hitch cover on everything returns to normal. Reversing sensors do their job again. On another question does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt audible alarm? I often drive off-road and don't use a seatbelt as I'm not driving fast and there aren't any crash hazards. smokescreen Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 How about putting the passenger seat belt buckle into the driver's side catch. smokescreen Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 On another question does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt audible alarm? This question has been on the forum before, and I think it was one of the 'professional' members who said it wasn't possible to disable the alarm. But........ I noticed when I was driving alone, I placed a heavy package on the passenger seat and when I drove off the seatbelt alarm started. Immediately I moved the package to the floor, the alarm stopped. Obviously there must be a sensor within the seat and it's got to have a connector which could be disconnected. But why bother!!! Quote

In my owner's manual it says that Citroen can do it if the car is hooked up to their computer, it can be turned off along with the rain detector that shuts the sunroof and windows when it rains automatically. Guest Michel Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I think you've cracked it Turbofan! I did have a chrome-plated towball cover. I've taken it off and the 'howling' has stopped!I think I'll try spraying it with a dull-finish paint and see if it's just the shiny surface that does it.Thanks for the suggestion. Now, how about going for the $65,000 ? The tyre pressure sensors are always giving false alarms, "Deflated", "Punctured" or even, "Tyre Pressure Sensor Missing". Naturally, there's nothing wrong. Trouble is, one day I'll ignore the alarm and ruin a tyre, or worse. Any ideas anyone? I've heard it said that if you disconnect the battery and leave it a while before re-connection the onboard computers reset themselves. Or is this just a myth? Anyway, I can now reverse without getting a headache. :-) Quote
