I have a 2007 1.4HDi and since taking it in for the software upgrade has had this problem. Without touching the wiper stalk the rear wash wipe starts its cycle. It has happened on the following occasions:-

1. Switching ignition on

2. Zeroing dashboard mileage counter

3. Overtaking a car and accelerating (the cycle can go 2 to 3 times when I do this)

4. Braking to slow down to a 30 zone

5. Indicating and turning right left.

6. Applying brake and clutch together in an emergency stop.

Garage has changed rear wiper motor but its still doing it. I have had other weird faults as well such as front wipers going vertical when leaving car, Radio staying on with ignition off and also manual air conditioning light and the steering going very stiff if I do a sharp right or left turn.

I'm convinced the ECU module is faulty but the garage say they can't detect any faults on it.

Any ideas would be of help thanks.

There was recent case of a C5 with odd electrical problems which occurred after using a car wash. It turned out water had got into the towbar electrical connector through a leaking rear light.

Could you ask the garage to put the old software back ?

The software upgrade was a recall and Garage say it has nothing to with problem.

Hello, I can't say I've had the same problem but I do have a related question so I though I should ask just in case you know the answer. My rear washer jet isn't directed at the rear windscreen at all and so is just giving the car behind me a good drenching. Does anyone know how to adjust the jets? Many thanks!

Most washer jets you can poke a sewing needle in the hole and move it about to change the direction of the jet. Also check the jet is installed correctly and not moved out of place.
