C3 Roof Trims Lifting At The Corners

Hi Folks,

The black roof trims on my wife's C3 1.4i SX 2003 keep lifting at the corners. You can click them back but they just lift again after day or two. I have walked round a carpark and looked at other C3s and noted that this seems quite common; it's a little annoying and creates wind noise. Any suggestions please?

Otherwise we are both delighted with the car.

Best wishes,

Seems to be the warm weather that makes them worse, black plastic expanding slightly. I have used a sealant as a glue before to stick one end down that was particularly bad.

Hi Paul,

I did try one of the 'hard as nails' products but the corner lifted after a couple of weeks. Last night I gently lifted each corner and 'crimped' the gripping edges a little with pliers (take care as one slightly cracked); they do seem tighter so will see how they go.

Best wishes.

I`might be late in replying to the thread but it may help others I had the same problem with my wifes C3. Took off the strips, cleaned the muck from strips and roof, applied silicone sealant 6 inches to each end of the strips replaced and put masking tape to each end to hold in place over night. Still OK 12 months later.

Yes - don't ignore it - or like mine it will fly off when accelerating onto the motorway.

I wasn't going to go back and attempt recovery. So anyone know where I can pick up a replacement cheaply - or even what they are officially called?

Cheers

They are called Roof Bar/Rail Blanking Plates. I'd have a look around the scrappies for a replacement.
