Guest fraser Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Hi Guys/Gals, I am doing a favour for my friend, and needs some advice from you guys. My mothers friend bought a new C3 1.4 SX in 2005 and died a couple of months later. Her daughter then took the car to France where it was re-registered. She now wants to sell it, so I now have it back in the UK. She used the car to pootle round her local village, so it only has <13K miles on the clock :) . The service book shows one sevice at 1250 miles, and the car indicates another service due in appox 8.5K. I have all of the details for the registering of the car in the UK, so don't need any advice on that, but would appreciate it if my following questions could be answered - I know the cambelt is well below the mileage required for a change, but what is Citroens age limit for a belt? What service should I get the local Citroen garage to carry out? If I leave it to them i'm sure that they will try and get the max amount of cash from me. This car is immaculate, with only a cracked wheel trim (that I will replace). I don't want to take the micky, so any ideas of what I should ask for this car? Cheers Fraser Quote
paul.h Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 The service book gives the cam belt and servicing details. I think the time limit is 10 years for the cam belt, or 40k miles for severe service which ever is first. Normal servicing is every 2 years or 20k miles whichever is first so if it has not been serviced recently then it should have the normal 2 year one which includes things like brake/clutch fluid change. If it has not been serviced in the last 5 years then it could be in a bit of a state wrt engine oil/filter/brake fluid/brake corrosion. An idea of its value can be found on-line from Parkers and autotrader and Citroen's own website for dealers. Quote
