Guest berlingo fan Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Hi, 1.4 petrol 2001. driving along in third (low revs), push on the accelerator and she'll fade and cut out. role up to a roundabout in second, go to pull out (accelerate) and, yes guess what, she'll cut out. start in a cold morning and she'll start, but take your foot of the accelerator and she'll, yes, cut out (and won't start to keenly, sometimes its a push and bump required). Changed spark-plugs, now I'm thinking Lamba sensor or idle fuel mech. anyone with any experience / knowledge of this? Most appreciated (it's getting embarrassing doing a slow rolling pull out!) Quote
paul.h Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 As a start I would clean the throttle plate area - carb cleaner/cloth/toothbrush - to remove any carbon build up. Quote
Guest berlingo fan Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Many thanks - will give it a go. Any clues where I find it - how to get at it. I've followed the accelerator cable so found the unit. anything to look out for when taking the unit off? (this engine looks nothing like my last car - a K plate Polo!) Quote
paul.h Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I have not seen the Berlingo 1.4 but on our 1.4 C3 you only need to remove the air intake duct (held by a large jubilee type clip) and leave the throttle body in place. The throttle plate inside the body is then seen and can be pivoted and cleaned. This should be done to most petrol cars during servicing. Quote

I took it for a diagnostics check at an independent today. 1) battery was the wrong size, so that has been changed, but the diagnostic came back with intermittent air intake into manifold fault. Does anyone have any idea how much the air flow meter is to replace and what sort of time it will take (labour) - gonna ring the garage back tomorrow for a quote... Quote
