Guest chuttonx Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hello all, this is my first post to the Citroen Owners Club forums. Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on an Air Conditioning Failure i have.I have a 2003 HDi 16v C3 Exclusive. I have been without Air Conditioning for quite some time now, it's coming into the winter and I have to get it fixed etc. Forewarned is forearmed etc. To give you a bit of background i will try my best and explain, how it failed. It had been working fine, then intermittent for a little while, the 'fan' as i'm calling it eventually stayed on FULL heat for a while, we were on the motorway for a long time ( 5 hours ) for a particular journey, as a result of the fan being on FULL over a lengthy period of time, i guess the 'fan' ( or whatever ) gave up and 'burned' out, there was a smell of burning after the noise of it giving it up.The burning smell disappeared after a while. So now im left with no air con ( or heating ) in the car The Digital Console in the middle of the car does seem to work absolutely fine, all the controls work, at least visually anyway, but with no affect on heating at all. A very faint 'hint' of warm air comes through the system, but this is purely from Engine Heat, no blower is in operation. Just want to get peoples opinion on what is wrong, to me, it's obvious, but to the reason the Fan gave out isn't so obvious, would something elsse cause the fan to go for example? If there are any more question that you may have, please do not hesitate to reply. I guess i'm short on the terminology for these AC sytems, so if you CAN actually use the terminology that maybe citroen would use, even better, it allows me to research and talk with citroen a bit more accurately. I have a second post but will treat that as a seperate issue as it's a seperate problem..... Many thanks , crossing fingers... Colin.... Quote
paul.h Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I take it the cabin fan is not working. Possibilities could include a fuse has failed, a wiring problem, the fan speed control resistor pack may have failed, the fan motor may have burnt out, a problem with the control system. Quote
