Guest Biosub Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Hi, I have a C2 VTR 2005. I start up the car, everything fine. I start adjusting the mirrors since my wife was the last driving the car. Suddenly the car went off. I try to start up again the car and nothing, there were no lights in the dashboard. The interior light comes on, I can turn on the car lights, it recognizes that I left the key in the ignition or the lights on when I open the door. All the fuses were check and are ok.One month ago the engine light come up at the afternoon, but in the next morning was off. So I did not get worry. Maybe a couple weeks ago, when I start up the car in the morning and start driving, it was giving me some low speed for couple of seconds, and than for the rest of the day it was normal. The remote control is working properly, it opens and closes the car. I tow the car to one garage and it was told me that the car lost the key codes. I went to have a second opinion, and this guy is telling me that if the car does not show any light (with exception of flashing battery for some seconds) in the dashboard when you turn the key by the different positions. The machine that reads the car can't give any inforamtion. He is telling me that probably is a loose wire at the ignition. I have been reading some things around in the internet, and I do not know if could be this wire that is loose or anything to do with ECU and coil pack failure? Thank you, if there is more information I will let you know. If you need any other clarification let me know!! G Quote
Guest Carnige Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I had a similar fault on my first C3, it turned out to be a loose battery terminal. I seemed to be tight but it wasn't. I cannot however, be sure it is the same with you. Quote
paul.h Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 We had a very similar thing on a Picasso and it turned out to be a maxi fuse that had failed - no cause found and after replacement never happened again. The maxi fuses are hidden away so it was not obvious and the RAC man did not find it either, only the dealer after towing there. Quote
shawns headache Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Hi can u please tel me how u resolved your fault cause I have the same problem with my xsara just that when I turn on my ignision I have no lights some guys told me it could be my BSI unit Quote
paul.h Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 The Xsara maxi fuses are in the engine fusebox under the top layer of fuses - it was one of these that had failed and cut all power to the car so nothing would work. It failed on setting off so had to push the car back the few feet it had moved. Quote
