Hi,

My Xantia 2.0 HDi ( W reg ) has a flashing stop light and a flashing temperature light which flashes at the same time.

What does this mean.

Can any one help.

The STOP light should flash for a short while after starting, for about ten seconds, indicates that the 'accumulator sphere' at the front of the engine bay is in good health.

It means that the temperature of the coolant is going into the abnormal range and it's telling you to stop. It could mean that there's a fault which is causing the engine to over-heat; it could mean that the coolant level is too low. But it could also mean that the temperature sensor is playing up and just needs changing. A new sensor is around ten quid.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply

It looks like my water pump has gone and means taking the cam belt off.

which was done about 3 months ago ( since then other mechanics have advised the water pump should have been changed with the cam change )

mechanics

cheers again all for your knowledge

Regards

Always good advice.

I know my post has become long winded

But the final outcome was the oil cooler which house's the oil filter a hole had appeared

Which then caused the loss of water
