Berlingo Van, Heater Blower Gone Wrong

Hi all, i am trying my best to help a good friend with a berlingo van, he tells me his Heater blower doesnt work, it tries to work but makes nasty noises pointing to the bearing being gone somewhere.

It seems it could cost as much as £550 to get it fixed at a Citroen Dealer but sadly the van isnt worth that much, so it could get scrapped just for the sake of a new fan blower, it is virtually impossible to go anywhere in this very cold weather, can anybody out there give any pointers as to what is involved in fixing ourselves, he has found a spare parts shop on Ebay or similar and he can get a fan for £35, but i fear the problem will be fitting it !!!.

Haynes do a manual for the Berlingo so that should give you the info. They are sometimes in libraries if you do not wish to buy one.

What a dammed good idea Paul, thanks a lot for that logical idea. Brill.

Perhaps you've worked it out by now but I recently pulled the fan assembly out without toooo much trouble... A bit fiddly but it can be done without tearing the dash to pieces..

I personally have a problem in that the fan will not operate in any mode, but the fuses and the fan itself are okay... Does anyone know where the relay is.. (assuming there is one) as the current drawn by the motor wouldn't go through the switch (I don't think) and the switch is too hard to get out to test..

Help anyone?
