Hi

Hope someone on here might be able to help out my brother-in law with his newly bought 53 plate c3 1.4hdi.

His wife didnt want a turbo car and he was advised to buy this car from the garage as it was non turbo.

But now it turns out it could be turbo, or so people keep telling him. I have no idea and i havent seen the car yet so cant check under the bonnet.

When googled it does sound like all 1.4hdi were turbos.

Can anyone help , is it turbo or not? were they all made as turbos?

If it is then he has an issue with the garage if not then its fine (and so will his wife).

Cheers

Let's get this straight...someone actually wants a non-turbo car, and buys a diesel manufactured in the last 10 years without any substantial prior research?

I am not even sure that you can buy a diesel car now without a turbo, so why didn't they buy a petrol version? Or didn't they even bother to find out what HDi signified? While it is obviously wrong for the garage to have sold it knowing that a non-turbo car was desired, it's hard to be sympathetic to anyone that has done so little preparation for a major purchase.

Wifey should also get in touch with the 21st century - what possible objection can there be to a turbo in this day and age?

It will have a turbo, may be an 8 valve (70 hp) or 16 valve (92 hp) engine though with resulting differences in performance although fuel economy is supposed to be similar. A 1.4 litre diesel engine without a turbo would be underpowered and may need something like a 2 litre non turbo diesel for similar performance.
