Seriously, have you tried all the connections and wiring, switches, relays, earthing points etc, sounds like something is not quite making contact properly

Hello,

i have a similar problem on my c8 exclusive.

The offside headlight has a mind of its own. For no reason, that anybody can explain, it flashes, flickers and even turns off.

Stopping the car and starting again cures the problem until the next time which can be an hour , a week , 3 months.

The first time it happened i thought that the bulb had gone, but on restarting the engine it came back to life.

I have checked connections and had it checked at the garage but nobody could see anything wrong.

I turned off the automatic lighting and ran it with manual on off for a while and it seemed to have cured the problem.

I am not sure where the snsor is for the automatic lighting but i feel it is a faulty sensor, my garage disagrees.

I think that because more often than not the problem happens at a particular point in my journey home, the road is particularly well lit and it seems to effect the headlights but just the offside one ?

I have lived with the problem for a while now so if you determine what it is i would be glad to know.

Regards

If the C8 is like the C4 and C5, the auto lighting and wiper sensor is at the top of the windscreen in the middle. You need to keep the glass clean for it to work ok.

For car washing fairy liquid and water but for hand cleaning Swarfega original (green) which has on the label C9-16 alkanes and cycloalkanes (I think the last tub had kerosene on the label). Other things used are turps/white spirit, brake cleaner, carb cleaner.
