Who can help with this?

I have just bought an 03 1.4 petrol Desire model. Straight away I had idle problems (racing / cutting out and eml on). The fault code was throttle body (cant remember code) but on the forum there was talk of rewiring a connector. Also the clock reset after every cold start so I changed the battery. This appears to have fixed both these faults but since driving other things have emerged.

1 When driving in stop / start conditions it is a bit "jerky"

2 The rear door interior lock button is very random. The main inside lock button works every time but the childlock button sometimes lights up by itself and you cannot open rear doors from inside. If you press the button you hear a click from glovebox area and sometimes the rear doors unlock, sometimes not.

1. It may help to replace the accelerator pedal since the internal electrics (potentiometer ?) may be worn. A new one was about £36 3 years ago when I replaced mine and is held on by 2 nuts and an electrical connector. There may also have been some replaced under warranty on early cars but I am not sure. I found setting off a bit of a struggle since the first part of the pedal did not increase the revs. It may also help to clean the throttle plate and body (with carb cleaner or turps or similar on a cloth) which may have a build up of carbon.

 

2. Not sure about this but you could try switching the child locks on/off at the door latches - page 12 in the handbook.
