Guest yeomills Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 On Wed last week my 07 reg C5 VTR manual estate 2.2 HDI went into limp home mode and displayed Enviromental polution system fault as well as the engine management light comilg on. I took the car to my local Citroen dealer who has now after 9 days and goodness knows how many man hours informs me they think it is an oxigen sensor. Has any one out there had similar problems.Barry Quote
paul.h Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 It may not be too difficult to see if it was an oxygen sensor, the diagnostics would be able to see if it was switching. See what other people suggest though. Have a Citroen one fitted, I have read in such as Car Mechanics magazine (who also have a help desk and a forum) that lower cost ones sometimes do not work well. Edited 26/1/2011.After looking in Haynes, etc. it appears diesels do not have oxygen (lambda) sensors, only petrol engines so this could not be the cause of the problems. Quote
Guest yeomills Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Update got the car back yesterday after 12 days with Air vmeter dev replaced with investigation parts and fitting at a cost of £284. Today after 41 miles car went back into limp mode and garage now say it requires a egr and another part at a cost of 750 fitted. After complaining the credited 150 for air meter but still a bill of 900 and no guarantee it will work. Just wish I could cut my losses and work away but car not salable in current condition. Quote
paul.h Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Could be worth asking what the fault codes were then you could do your own searches on likely faults but it should be something that affects emissions. There should also be freeze frame live data stored when the fault occurred but this would be lost when the code was erased. I may be wrong, but it sounds as though the garage is using a process of elimination by replacing parts at your cost, hoping to get it right. Quote
Guest Coolscan Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Hi, This may or may not be of help. 2007 2.2 hdi twin turbo. Beep followed by "speed control system faulty" closely followed by "depollution system faulty", and limp mode.It would have been easy to miss the first message as it was quite brief. The depollution message persisted, as did the engine icon on the dash. This situation recurred a few times. Dealer was able to reproduce the problem with heavy acceleration. Changeing the fuel filter cured the problem. It had done 21,800 miles. May have got some dirty fuel. May be worthy of consideration. Regards, Coolscan. Quote
