Hi

I am new to the owners club as i have not had a Citroen before so Hi all. I have just bought the above and have found out that the heater perfomance is very poor. It blows out ok but at best it only gets tepid. Can anyone advise what the problem might be and is it an easy fix etc?

Cheers

The following are general things that could apply to any car:

If the engine temperature is low then it is likely to be the thermostat needs replacing. If not, then check if the coolant pipes to the heater through the bulkhead are hot. There could be an air lock in these pipes or the heater matrix which needs bleeding out. If you have air conditioning then make sure it is not switched on. The mechanism for moving the air flap to the heat position in the ducting may not be working.

Thanks for that Paul. The engine temp does not go much above 70 degrees which is well below the recommended so i reckon it could be this. We tried checking for air locks yesterday but could not seem to find anything. We also treid moving the temp control switch backwards & forwards and it was definitely colder when it went to cold which would suggest the air flap was working ok.

Any body got any ideas how much a new thermostat might cost roughly?

You could look on eurocarparts web site but usually they are about £5 for most cars plus make sure it has a new gasket. If you do not collect all the anti freeze that you drain out so it can be re-used, you will need some of that also. It is usually changed every 2 years anyway so it could be due for a change.
