Guest fimurphy Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 My 2003 2.0LHDi c5 estate over the cold period started to develop a slight acceleration lag between 2000rpm & 3000rpm, today within 10 minutes of starting it from cold the engine management light and antipollution fault came up and has stayed on. The manual tells you to contact a dealer urgently, any suggestions as to the fault before I get the runaround from a dealer? Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Ok why would the dealer want to give you the runaround. They want you in repaired and out. people are scared of the dealers and think there going to rob you. but its not always the case lets say you get joe blogs to plug you in with his chinese lexia and he frys your ecu what will you get for rcompense ul get eff all. dealers on the other hand have to make good any damage they do and thats why you pay extra Quote
Randombloke Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I would check the swirl control valve and the intake side for leaks. When that draws a blank, it would be a very good idea to take Coastline's advice. The diagnostic stuff costs a lot of money and there has to be a return on an investment. Quote

Guest ando37 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 hello to everyone i have just joined tonight 9/2/11 and have for the first time encountered a problem with my c5 i have run my c5 1.8 vtr petrol model on supermarket fuel since buying it new in 2004 last friday i put £20 worth of petrol in the car i used the car on saturday and covered aprox 16 miles only, the car was not used on sunday.monday 7/2/11 i set off for work which is 8 miles away aprox half way the dreaded anti pollution words appeared on the multiscreen along with the service light and engine symbol i looked through the Q&A sites for answers and found quite a few answers saying try shell v power and drive round for about 15 minutes most of these answers were directed at diesel models, i went out at 9.30 pm and put £20 of v power unleaded in my car and drove home aprox 2 miles lights and multi screen still on went to bed next morning aprox 2 miles into journey to work warning lights and m/screen message extinguished themselves so far they have not come back on so wether this is the correct thing to do i dont know but it seems to have worked for me i hope this is usefull info to try before taking to main dealers for expensive trial and error fixes as it seems some people have had expensive parts replaced one after the other to no avail.i might add that my car did not go into limp home mode or have anyother problems Quote
