Guest lmca Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Hi, Just wanted to say thanks for the help I've found on here in trying to sort our C5 out and see if anyone wiser than I can add some more to aid our dilemma! Were advised by our garage to obtain a "heating control panel" as no power from fan etc (problem as identified all over this board) but when presented with a photo of said item, advice was changed and we were advised we needed an A/C heating control fascia panel. However, as the photo I'd presented to the mechanic turned out to be one of the fan, no surprise there was confusion. So, obtained fascia panel and went to fit it. Discovered a loose cable behind the radio so reconnected it and, abracadabra, all lights and switches light up, though still no fan. Didn't bother fitting new panel. Again no problem, as due research on this forum, it seems it will probably be the Heater Control Module Resistor AC 6441L2 which sounds a straight forward fit thought fiddly. I reset the immobiliser after phase 1 (reconnection of lose wire), again courtesy of this forum - thanks! Drove the car all of 12" forward and 12" back, just to check. All well, till the morning when immobiliser reactivated and now unable to reset this as seemingly the battery is flat! Various random messages - immobiliser, Airbags, etc, and the lovely trafficmaster lady. So, (long story, sorry), if I disconnect, recharge and reconnect battery, after purchase and fitting resistor, will this enable me to reset immobiliser using key system or am I missing something else in all this? Or shall I give in, have it towed or call a mobile sparkie to sort? Thanks in anticipation of your help! Quote
Randombloke Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Search the forum. Use the correct battery disconnection procedure. Charge it fully on a mains charger. When it is fully charged, see if measures as good. If bad, replace it. Reconnect it if its good. Follow procedure posted on forum, search again. If it then goes flat, find the problem with the thing making it go flat. Don't run a C5 with an iffy battery - it's not worth the aggravation. Quote
Guest lmca Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks Randombloke for your reply. I wasn't aware of a battery disconnect procedure and haven't seen anything on the forum specifically about this. I was following the reconnect procedure on this thread Is this what you meant? Though having now disconnected it a few times have I caused a problem? Quote
Randombloke Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Personally I prefer this version of it. John Douglas's post in the Battery Swap and Reset thread You need to avoid malfunction of BSI related items. @ JD thanks once again. Quote
Guest lmca Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks again. Hadn’t realised but I had a copy of that one too, so have been using it but looks like I've already messed up. Did manage to fit the Resistor which was as awkward as everyone has said, though not sure it’s resolved the problem anyway, still no operable fan. However checked in the area where the garage had removed a panel and found another disconnected wire with no obvious home! Anyway, over the last week or so have managed to disabled the immobiliser, reset it successfully and am now back to square one with it being inactive with a selection of other messages being thrown up (airbag disabled, problem with brakes etc), so presumably I've now caused a problem with it. Anyone have any wise advice regarding this? Thanks! Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 The airbag disabled warning message 9 out of 10 comes down to a faulty comm unit Quote
