When I went to pick up my 2009 VTR+, I was surprised when the dealer told me it actually has got daytime running lights, I thought he meant the LED's and dismissed it, as those were not introduced until late 2010. But they are actually bright bulbs in the strip at the bottom of the headlights. Strangely though, they are disabled by default and there, by default, is no option in the menu to enable them. He asked if I wanted them enabled, and after a few minutes on the computer now they are enabled and I now have an extra option in the car's menu to enable or disable them. It actually looks quite smart with them on, but it is good that they can be turned off if required. This might be a feature that some people are unaware of, who have bought one of these C5's.

Hi, I have a 2009 C5 (new model) VTR+, which has got normal steel spring suspension. I noticed my power steering fluid was a bit low the other day, so I want to top it up and keep an eye on it. I was told that I need LDS fluid for this, even though its not suspension/steering fluid as I don't have Hydractive suspension. Does anyone know if LDS is the correct fluid even for standard suspension C5's? Thanks

I have heard that the bumper doesn't have to come off too, but you must have to have really small hands to get them fitted! Why couldn't Citroen have made them more accessible?!

Thanks for the reply! I think I will look into getting some LED's now instead. Cheers

Hi, the sidelights on my C5 are always blowing. For a long time I was driving around with neither one working, just used dipped lights whenever I needed lights on. I tried to change them myself on one occasion but couldn't reach my hand in. Then I got my dealer to replace them which they charged well for. A few weeks later one of them had blown, followed by the other not long after. Is this a common problem on the C5? Thanks

Hi, my C5 has started to get really creaky at the rear. It's especially noticeable when driving slow / parking. Also when you have got out of the car and the suspension re-adjusts itself, people look at it strangely, sounds like an old creaky door. Does anyone know what the problem would be here, would it be bushings or something more serious? Thanks

You definitely have the xenons as they are the directional ones that turn when going round bends and have washers, mine are the same. Is it the xenon bulb has failed or does it not turn now?
-
They're still the same, i'm taking it to my dealer next week, i'm afraid of damaging them. Thanks.

Thanks Techbod! I'll try the WD40 tomorrow I think, if they don't sort themselves out by then

Thanks for reply. Its actually the washers for the lights (the ones that extend out and then retract) that are stuck, not the wiper blades on the windscreen. Thanks

Hi, when I started up my C5 yesterday it was still kind of dark and my windscreen was a bit dirty, so I activated the windscreen washers, on my car this also activates the headlight washers (if your headlights are on). The washers wouldn't come out properly and then got stuck mid way, I think they might have been frozen. Today they are working better but they still won't retract fully. When I use them they come out and wash the lights, but when they go in they stop about an inch from the bumper. I was able to "assist" them on the way in by gently pushing them back in to the body when they finished. Has anyone else come across this problem? I'm just wondering how they could be freed up a bit, WD40? Thanks

Hard to tell, but does sound like blown speaker(s). You should just check some of the wiring is tight enough though too. Do you have a habit of blasting it?!

Jbl Sub Woofer Plug Into Standard Factory Stero
skaramanga replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
My C4, which has the JBL fitted, has an amplifier fitted under the driver's seat. Its not as simple as just plugging in the sub i'm sure. -
Yes with all the features my vtr+ has, it is strange not to have heated mirrors. I have missed them a few mornings lately.

I had a look at one when I was in the dealership, fine car!

So basically, we're all worried that our cars are too powerful! :D
-
Thanks for all your help wozza. I might find out about just replacing the front door speakers for now. As for the head unit, luckily I don't have the CD changer, should make it easier to change it if I go ahead with that. Thanks :D
-
I would be very surprised if they're not 5 stud ones on a car like that. They look very cool though! :D
-
Thanks for the info wozza! Hopefully I can get a look at the amp under the seat (if thats where it is), and get the door panels off to see what the speakers are like. If the head unit was changed, would it still use the amp or would it be better to power the speakers from the built in amp on the head unit? Cheers

I would love to know exactly what way the jbl system is connected up. Can't seem to find any info/instructions on it anywhere. Recommended upgrades etc would be great too. The user manual that came with the car doesn't give any information worth talking about. :D

Glad its going well! Wouldn't mind a drive in an Egs!
-
Did you ever manage to take a photo of the amp? Wonder does it say jbl on it?
-
You will love it when you get it. Enjoy! :)

No, the Citroen dealer is fine. Some of it is price (i'm tight fisted  ), and the Peugeot dealer happens to be closer to where I live and I know them better. Still don't know whether I should just go to Citroen in case it needs any updates etc.
