  1. Sorry, meant to put cars and not care !!! my bad.
  2. For the wipers to operate automatically you need to have the wiper stalk in the first position (where intermediate wiper position would be on other care) The sensor is at the top of the windscreen in line with the interior mirror. Once you switch the ignition off it cancels the auto wipe so you have to put it back in position one again. Hope this helps.
  3. This heat we are experiencing at the moment keeps me inside a lot,so I cannot do much, but I managed to check if the car rises up without starting it up and it does rise up, but it takes about 90 seconds to do so. I would imagine that it takes so long to rise up as the car sinks down by a good 6 inches overnight.
  4. thank you for editing my post,it appeared like that as I was typing and then carried over as I posted it. Today has been too hot for me to venture out and check the car, but at the first opportunity I will check it out . Should the car rise up when I open the door or does it need to be started up first? Thanks again.
  5. Thank you for that, it sinks down at the rear almost fully overnight, I have to be careful where I park so that the rear bumper won't settle on something like a kerb and possibly cause it to pop some of it's clips off. If I get the chance over the weekend I'll check it out, thanks again. (Edited paul.h - words were all crossed out)
  6. Thank you for that paul.h,I'll keep those part numbers safely in case of breakages, the next thing to cure is the car sinking at the rear after being stood for a few hours, never a dull moment.
  7. Good evening everyone, well today I had a go at the glass screen problem, I removed the plastic cover which is fitted over the wiper on the inside of the glass and unplugged the wiring, but the car wouldn't lock so I reconnected it and unplugged the solenoid wiring from inside the tailgate which worked, the glass screen is now locked permanently, which will suit me for now. I tried to remove the cover form the wiper arm/micro switch but it wouldn't budge. Does anyone know of a way to get this cover off safely? thanks again.
  8. Thank you Randombloke and Paul.h I'll have a good search through and will post my findings when I get it sorted. There are only a few niggles to what is otherwise a great car. Thanks again.
  9. Good evening everyone, I have just bought a 56 reg hdi 2.0 vtr estate, every time I unlock the car by the remote the glass section pops open, it will close ok but if I open the passenger front door the glass will pop open again, also when I activate the rear washers, the fronts come on and the rears don't work. Can anyone please shed a little light on these niggles. Many thanks.
  10. Well done indeed to everyone concerned and by the looks of it Congratulations to our very own Mr Coastline. :)
  11. Well said Mr Coastline,It's time that something was done about all this rubbish,It used to be a great site and thanks must go to you and the regular contributors who have been so helpful in the past. Maybe one day all will be well again so I will keep looking in just in case.
  12. Indeed a good tip, never take things casually mishaps can happen at any moment. Hope you are up and about soon.
  13. Just a little word of advice,do not keep using tyre valve dust caps as they may look similar but they do not seal efficiently,I know from experience!!. For peace of mind buy the proper cap at about 20p.hope you resolve your problem soon
  14. Good to hear that your display is still operating ok, hope it keeps that way, aren't French electrics wonderful !! regards, Brian.
  15. Hi Randombloke, I see you have no replies to your display question, I posted a similar question some months back about my 3.0 executive se display going a horrible smoky yellow and also flashing through the other display colours at random. Someone said that the display shroud just pulls up and out of the way, I couldnt try it as my hands are riddled with arthritis, but to cut a long story short, my display returned to normal a few weeks later and (touch wood) has been fine since. Hopefully yours will do the same, regards, Brian.
  16. I have a v6 3.0 which has the same thing appearing, it has done this for the last 2 1/2 years ,mine goes away on it's own for months at a time and suddenly reappears, it has never failed an mot on emissions so I just live with it as being one of Citroens electrical charms !!,personally I will leave mine alone until the mot dictates that something should be done. Regards, Brian.
  17. I feel sure that you could manage the basic service procedures with the help of the haynes manual and a decent quality toolkit, a socket set, ring/combination spanners, pliers, screwdrivers etc. Read the relevant items in the manual a couple of times first, then check where they are in relation to the car and have a go. You'll soon find huge satisfaction. Good luck, Brian.
  18. Just a thought, have you had all 4 wheels balanced? If you have the standard alloys fitted sometimes the weights have a tendancy to fly off, I have the same model and have no problems like yours.Do a quick check of wheel tightness and for play in the bearings for peace of mind. Hope you're sorted soon, regards, Brian.
  19. Hi REK I have had a look oin my code list, p1352= ignition coil A primary circuit malfunction/ sid801 pre/post heatingrelay circuit-relay &pre-heat plugs not controlled. The p0238 and po234 codes I could not find listed. Hope this helps, regards, Brian.
  20. Quick update. The tank mountings were checked today and found to be in their original position, so still baffled by that one, I haven't been able to remove the colour display yet as my hands are us at the minute, occasionally the display will flash on and off for a few seconds (a bit like a flourescent light with a faulty starter) then return to its natural colour but only for a second or two and then reverts to the old yellow colour, thanks for all your suggestions. Brian.
  21. Thanks for that Longdead, does the surround just pull up or are there lugs which locate it in place? I ask that as I dont want to start levering at the surround as it looks such a close fit that I may be in danger of leaving marks around the joint.I'll report back when I've had a go, thanks again, Brian.
  22. Thank you Paul for your quick reply, at the moment arthritis is limiting my movements, but as soon as possible I will check that out. Regards, Brian.
  23. Hello everyone, I have been a member since 2008 but have been unable to post until now (some things are worth waiting for). I have a 51 reg c5 v6 exclusive se. My main problem is my central display colour screen, everything works on it ,but yesterday the screen glass has taken on the appearance of something heavily coated in nicotine (a really brownish yellow) I have tried all the colour settings but nothing works. Does anyone know how I can get the screen out safely?. My second fault is very weird, for the first 18 monthe my fuel flap has always closed flush with the bodywork, in the last few months it doesn't anymore, it sits about 8mm proud. If I take the fuel locking cap off then it shuts as it should, replact it and the cap is actually touching the flap!! It looks as if the neck of the tank has grown (which of course it hasn't) I am stumped by that one. Any advice would be gratefully received, many thanks, Brian.
