  1. If I recall corectly on my 54 reg SX the button on the end of the indicator stalk activated the auto headlights in conjunction with another actiomn, you had to hold it in until you heard a gong sound. (I don't have that car anymore to check it out) On my 07 SX it doesn't operate and is fixed. The end button on the wiper stalk (right hand) does the trip computor on both cars
  2. My 54 reg broke a front spring. Yes it was during warranty period,. However it was not in the VIN range that needed the recall and did enquire when i bought the car if it needed the spring cups fitting and was assured it didn't. Both springs were replaced. No problen with the rears. I would suggest that the dealer approaches Citroen about this as it was a known problem.
  3. Strangely the readouts on the two C3 are different. the 54 reg 1.5 shows 61.4 the 07 1.6 shows 61.7 for the same readings. Yes it is due to litres/KM being changed to mpg and can only assume that the conversion factor has been changed slightly in its last digits to give a quicker calc. The 07 reg was appaling on MPG when first bougt, averaged 51, which was only 2 more than the Picasso it replaced, now it is up to 64 which is good. As for getting the book figures dreamland really, especially in the days of traffic jams and rush hour traffice, driving during the quieter periods return better figs but then who wants to go out at 3 Am?
  4. Welcome to your new car, enjoy. The computer for MPG gives as you say an average that is the reading that also shows a ----- line on one side of the car. This naturally changes as you drive depending upon the conditions. Note that it is best left alone and only reset by pressing and holding the end knob in at car refuel time. The other reading is the instantaneous readout and shows what mpg you are doinbg at that instant. No there are times when the car will be using no fuel as you go along and it will show 999 mpg, The reason it does this is that what you are using is zero fuel so you are going an infinate distance on it. The calculation tops out at 999. If you set the car to litres per kilometer then it shows 0 at these times. So you are sitting at the traffic lights, firest thing to note is that the instant readout will be dashes as it only shows at speeds above 9 mph or 19 mph on later cars. So yous et off and when the trigger speed is reached the readout springs into life. On my 1.4 and 1.6 HDi it shos as little as 28 mpg under heavy accel and as much as 999 on the overrun. Note however it takes time to respond and is not quite instantaneous. The readings are distance from last reset of computer, distance to next fill, based on the average mpg, average mph since last reset, time/date As for car config that is very limited. To gets the lights to stay on on both of ours yuo ahve to pull the headlight dip/flash lever towards you after the lights are turned OFF. The heads then come on again for 90 secs.
  5. Open tail gate and above the lights you will see a small round bung, prise that out, later cars don't have the bung, undo the nut. Inside boot on the side you ae working you will see an aperture that gives access to the another nut.. Undo that and remove the light cluster. undo connector. Carefully prise the catches and remove the bulb holder. replace required bulb. reassemble in reverse order.
  6. Basically only the top of the range model has the auto folding mirrors (crusie control too). To fold the mirrors, the wing mirror adjuster knob has to be rotated to the 6 o'clock position. HOWEVER if there is NO INDEX dot at 6 o'clock then don't try to do this. NO mark no auto fold. If you force the knob past either of the wing mirror positions you will snap it oiff and it cost £12 approx to buy a replacement.
  7. I am getting the Michellin E3A fitted tomorrow. Note that as the supply of E3As drys up they are being replaced by Michelin's new SAVER tyre, the new super low friction tyres. I know that they are £77 for 185/65 R15H but that's not the right size for the C3. I believe and will confirm tomorrow that the E3A are going to be £61 fitted. the nearest Costco to me is 50 miles away over the dartford crossing (another fee) and the distance doesn't warrant the saving. I even had a Costco card as a benefit in kind but resented paying 40% tax on the £29 to Gordon Brown/Darling for the priviledge.
  8. If you live in the East Grinstead area try Tyre Pros on the Birthill Industrial estate. They will match any web price. Nice outfit, free drinks, TV, mags and paper.
  9. My reply was in response to his question which does not specify his engine size. I have one of each the 1.4 16V 92BHP and the 1.6 16V 92BHP. The old 1.4 8V 70 BHP unit was not equiped with variable vane turbo fit. So to the original poster what is the year and engine size of your car?
  10. I don't have flat blades but the obvious advantage is they don't have pressure point on the blade so the complete blade rests on tyhe screen at the same pressure. Conventional blades have points where the arm sub segments rest on them. There must be a conversion kit to allow you to retrofit these to any car, ask the man at halfrauds
  11. If by accident he knock off a connector of vacummn pipe he may not have seen it. One of my cars engines was written off because a mechanic in the dealership left a hose connector off allowing all of the coolant to blow out under load.
  12. Firstly I go straight back to the garage. The turbo on the 1.4 & 1.6 is variable and has a device mounted on it that move sthe vanes to reduce the load when you accelerate, thus decreasing the turbos inertia and making turbo lag non-evident. Its possible that the this has had its control disconnected either by accident or design due to it being in the way for another operation. As you say the turbo should be much earlier and seemless in operation.
  13. That's possible thenn it was held pending the 52 plate issue, no doubt the first owner wanted the newer plate and elected to wait. Vanity is strange thing. Bought our latest C3 on a 07 plate 1 week before 57 plates came out. Got a further discount of £250 on the price.
  14. I once lived in Saudi Arabia and used to buy my UK car wiper blades out there. OK the car didn't hget used much but the blades appeared to be of a better quality and obviously made for a higher temp range.
  15. I put that number in and it comes back with 30 June or 01 July 2002 depending upon which site you use. So what is the reg plate numbers on the car (not the letters) if it was delivered when it was made it will be XX02 XYZ
  16. Passing by GSF in Worthing the other day decided to buy new wiper blade. This year they have had a hard life and the screen wasn't being wiped without lines caused by the blade edges having worn and the rear wiper blade the rubber was coming off. New set of Valco cost £33 which is a reduction of about £13 over the same set at halfords. Got them out of the box both the fronts have spoilers on them and went to fit them. Hang on the spoiler should be near the bonnet with the wipers parker but these were on the other side. Look at box again and there on the back a small picture and instruction on how to convert them for the UK. Push out centre pivot to arm mount and turn through 180 degrees, refit. Wipers fitted and the difference in the screen wiping is very noticeable. The others were two year old.
  17. WARNING WARNING WARNING. If you use a DETTOL product to perform this enusre that it DOES NOT contain BLEACH. Read the can label carefully.
  18. I agree but I was making sure that he had the stalk at '0' as your reply didn't indicate that. Hopefully he will come with his production date.
  19. http://www.citroen.mb.ca/organr.html goto this web site and follow the instructions. The ORGA number is on the tyre pressure sticker on the front door hinge post passenger side. On my cars it ends in CA, input just the 5 figure numbers. the dtaes that are returned for my come in 31 August 2004 and 27 July 2007. the first one was both were delivered 3 weeks after manu date
  20. OK your light /indicator stalk looks just like mine on my 54 reg car. The sensor also looks the same The handbook datededition 05-2004, gives the following info on page11 in the In Brief section. Automatic Lighting of headlamps To activate or deactivate the function: - Place ignition key in the ACCessories position (that is the first position clockwise of the key) - Move the lighting control stalk to position 0 - Press the end of the control B (that's the push button on the end of the stalk) until you hear a confirmation gong. Hope this helps KFK is member of the site who works for a citroen dealership and is very helpful.
  21. It's possible then by the date that this car doesn't have auto lights fitted to it. many of the extras came later and some finished earlier. To be sure what it should have you need to take the VIN number to a dealer who will look it up on the Citroen computer, maybe KFK can help.
  22. Are we talking about rear windscreen wiper or rear windscreen electric demistor. True the rear wiper is on the wiper stalk, to activate turn the end of the stalk clockwise (as you look at from the drivers door, i.e. the top of it away from you as you drive. This will turn it ON. It operates on a wipe then park action which controlled by the car, it is not continuous. If you wish to use the washer then turn it again against the spring stop. This will activate the rear washer. Note if the wiper is OFF and the washer is used the unit sparys and then the wiper operates for 4 sweeps. The rear demister which uses the electric elements in the glass to heat it, is controlled by the button on the heater control panel, which is mounted below the stowage box under the radio and in front of the gear lever. This button is the top far RIGHT one. It also activates the electric heaters in the rearview mirrors. Once activated it will switch OFF after a time interval OR can be pressed again to turn it OFF. Please note that if the front and or rear wiper system are left ON and then ignition key is then removed , to reactivate the wipers you have to move the switches or stalks to OFF then back ON. The button on the far top LEFT is the front windscreen demist activator and forces the fan into high speed and directs air at the windscreen. Hope this helps
  23. NO. Just disconnect the battery + lead and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes for any charge in the systems to decay. If you try to short any of the battrey terminal or leads together you could end up with more problems.
  24. The reason for brake discs to wear out quicker these days is becasue they don't put asbestos in the pads anymore, as it is cancerogenic (spelling). So the pads are made of a harder material to compensat. The life of discs seems to be anywhere from 15000 to 40000, my C3 shows 38K at present and the pads were changed at 20K and I was told last year at MOT time that the discs may need changing this year. As for rust on the discs, this has always happened, as the disc is made of ferrous ,aterial it will rust a sthere is no oil or other protection on the surfaces.
  25. The easy way to tell is to look at the front winscreen. The auto activated wipers and haedlights have a BLACK sensor box mounted at the top centre of the screen behind the interior rear view mirror. The wiper stalk also has the following poistion on it O = OFF Up movements are intermittant, 1 , 2 Down movement, activates auto wipers. To switch off auto you have to select intermittent then OFF, asthe auto springs back to O which is a bit confusing. On older SX models (we have one of each in our household) O = OFF Up movements Auto, 1, 2 Down movement Single wipe of screen. It is possible that the car doesn't have Auto fitted as they are reducing the 'goodies' as they come to the end of the current production run as the New C3 Picasso arrives on the scene.
