  1. This is no contest, the Alfa wins hands down as a drivers car, BUT, as the cost of fuel rises and you admit to using the other car for work cos its cheaper, you have to bite the bullet, if you want to stay married, and she is wise to make you choose, the Alfa is a 'black hole' to your money!!! If you want to keep the Alfa, take it off the road and store it properly, it may redeem itself in the future, bit of a waste though as all cars and in particular Alfas, depreciate fast, it is a gas guzzler, although cheaper tax at the moment, but I sense the Goverment theives, will close that loophole very soon, cos there is no sense in allowing older, more polluting cars on the road with cheaper tax than more modern effecient ones today, you can see it already, as the classic car tax dodgers bring out their smoking joe's and pollute our atmosphere!!! Go for option 3 as it makes sense. Terry <_<
  2. Hi, I have used a dragon tuning box on my C4, mainly to help with economy rather than extra power which my 2.0HDI (136bhp) doesn't need. What the box does is it intercepts the pulses to the injectors and modifies it, thus if you want more power, longer pulse, less power shorter pulse. My cars economy is wooful on anything but long runs, so the economy mode helps. It is easy to connect and disconnect should you sell the car or if still under warranty, remove for servicing. First check out good old ebay, worth a look. Terry <_<
  3. Hi all, With the current trend for ever increasing fuel costs, I was wondering if anyone has or is thinking of trying these hydrogen generator supplement kits. Basically, you convert ordinary water H2O into HHO or browns gas using electricity from the cars electrical system, the gas is sucked into the engine before any turbo at the air intake pipe. On petrol cars there has to be an adjustment to the management system, namely the O2 sensor and the MAP or MAF to fool the ECU. On diesels it is much simpler as there are no O2 sensors and apparently diesels love a bit of hydrogen!! Any thoughts? Terry <_<
  4. Just changed my tyres and I have noticed a lot of tyre noise I didn't have before, been told that the tread pattern is to blame along with the 17 inch wheels. My old michelin's where very quiet, so now I will have to wait another 2 years for these to wear down. terrwilk
  5. Hello all, My old C3 had to be recalled to have front coil spring cups plates fitted to help avoid a broken spring puncturing the tyre. I have just poked my head under the front wheel arches of my C4 and saw a worrying sight. There is no support cup on this car either, don't Citroen learn from the past? or am I being too forward thinking? Anybody else worried? have a look and see for yourself, just seems odd that Citroen identified a possible problem on a different model and not cascaded to all the models. Terrwilk
  6. Thanks Yes it is under the removable ashtray

    Obd Ii

Hi all, lookin to find the obd ii port on my c4 anyone know where it is located? terrwilk
  8. Hi all, Just flicking thro the settings on my navi, found the battery back up showing less than 30%. Anyone know how to change it? Terry C4 exclusive 2.0 HDI
  9. Hi Just wondered if anyone has added a sub to a standard rt3 (magneti marelli) with sat nav, phone etc. need the pin out for (remote amp). Cheers Terry
  10. Hi there sorry to hear of your loss, try getting downloads of adverts of your car from the web, copy the documents, try ebay for a price for the lowest then the dealers for the highest, then www.parkers.co.uk for a price to buy your exact car, send the whole lot off to the insurance Company, sit back and wait to deal with some speckie, crater faced 'youf', who will try to tell you that your car is 'worff' nought!! Tell him/her that this in not the case, i.e. be polite, even though they have insulted you and your poor disabled car!!! should be a law against this, are you listening 'idiots in EU?' lol, sorry distracted there. I did this last claim and it worked for me, got highest book price, nice. Good luck Terry
  11. Try www.moneysupermarket.com Worked for my daughter! Terry
  12. They do all the leg work and cover nearly the insurance companies posted here. I have 2 convictions and 2 claims still got insurance cover for £360 fully comp on my citroen 2.0 HDI exclusive, 6 years no claims 'protected' living in Norfolk. Terry
  13. Hi everyone, just thought i would add my two pence worth. I had a fault with the auto adjustment on my exclusive HID system. Yes it defaults to low setting to prevent blinding oncoming traffic, as with all HID there is no NORMAL setting, it automatic, depending on load in the back i.e. height of the rear of the car. If the height adjusting sensor fails or goes intermittant due to a fault or a dirty sensor, the system loses its reference, so has to go to a default position, which in this case is straight down to its lowest position, believe me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of mis-adjusted HID lamps!!! Makes sense really, as a get you home, however, it is NOT dangerous, you just have to adjust your driving style i.e. slow down and it will get you home. Book it in for a height adjuster fault. PS - if doing long journeys on good roads, turn the directional kit off, why have all that moving of headlamps when just going on well lit roads, the system is primarily designed for dark country roads, like where i live in darkest Norfolk, nearest dual carriageway 10 miles, nearest motorway is 40miles !!!!!!!!!! nearest sh***y farm track, they call a road, is a few yards ... lol. Terry
  14. Hi all, I have seen these claims of huge power and torque increases particularly with the common rail diesels. Has anyone fitted an aftermarket digital tuning box and had any good results? Basically you unplug the wiring loom to the injectors and slave in this box which adjusts the ECU paramters, some are adjustable!! Just wondered Terry :o
  15. Hello everyone, Just done a check on my tyres, which are the original Michelins!! and done 20K Thinking, because its a 2.0L HDI, the front tyres would be wearing the worst, but NO, both rear tyres are showing signs of feathering, the inside tread is deeper than the outside. This is very unusual on a front wheel drive car, ALL my other cars had very even tyre wear on the rear wheels. I will be taking it in to the dealer as I suspect rear suspension geometry is incorrect. The front tyres appear to be wearing in the usual pattern for front wheel drive with power steering. Any input from you guy's would be appreciated. Terrwilk :D
  16. Hi all, Just an update again. Car went in for intermittant brake defect. They replicated the fault at long last, so its not my imagination!!!!!!!!!! They have not said which part they will replace, just hope it cures the damn fault !!! terrwilk
  17. Hi all, Car back in for brakes not working again. It was ok after they replaced something last time All scratching their heads, got a loaner car, and they wanted to give us our car back cos they could not replicate defect and wanted their loaner back!!! I strongly suggested to them that they keep our car until either they find the problem OR replace a component on spec. What kind of idiot gives a car back to the owner with a reported safety defect?? Terry
  18. Hi all, Which models have headlamp wash? I can't see any nozzles on mine!! Terry
  19. Hi all, Yes book your car in for sqealing brakes, new rear calipers and pads under warranty. The problem seems to be solved with the braking system, but willkeep you posted. terrwilk C4 EXC
  20. Hi all, Watch out, problem found on brake servo valve on several cars ..... but no recall ....... this not good ...... if ever there should be a recall, it should be on the braking system, CITROEN get your act together!!!!!!!!!!! terrwilk
  21. Hi yes I have it too on my exclusive! But as with others the TMC does work in the UK, interesting if you quiz the saleman as to the functionality of TMC, as Citroen UK do not have a license for TMC. Other than that, its a cool device, the pnone is handy as is voice commands great hands free kit. The mapping is good but not up to date and I think the CD's are expensive, but not available from Navteq yet for the C4. terrwilk Iron grey 2.0 HDI exclusive.
  22. Hi all, Anybody had the disturbing sensation of a rock hard brake pedal and NO braking effort at all!!!! Only way to stop the car was the handbrake!! It happened to my other half and scared her s**tless. Basically, she drove away from her works and at the first application of the brakes ........ NOTHING .......... plus no warnings of anything wrong either, then when she vigerously pumped the brake pedal, suddenly everything was normal. The only thing that has been done to the car was replacement of the rear brake calipers, they are the modified type, due to a squeal when in reverse. ANYONE had this disturbing phenomenon? Terry
  23. Hi all, Thanks for thatguys, although, incidentally, the 3-4 mile bit was a reference to how far it takes to warm up, by that I mean to even punch out warm air from the heater!! not for the total distance of my journies, which are a mixture of local to long distance, average 250 miles a fortnight. I don't see the point of having a gauge that does not read correct info, if the car is indeed at the CORRECT engine temp then the gauge should say so!! I would rather it read out in actual temperature, then at least it means something, 1 or 2 bars of an 6 bar scale is next to useless. It is akin to the speedo saying you are doing 30 when actually you are doing 50, isn't it? As i said, my lowley C3 1.4 HDI 90 was at mid way after a few minutes, blowing hot air, which is a boon in winter to warm the cabin!! and it stayed midway all the time. So, not sure about the diesel theory, a thermostat does what it says on the tin, i will test the water temp myself, as I am not convinced. Engine temp does affect engine idle and mixture via the ECU, so if the temp is wrong then so is the engine performance and indeed fuel economy. Any more ideas welcome. Terry
  24. Hi back again, Does anyone know how long it takes their car to warm up to temperature? Mine is C4 2.0 HDI 138. It takes nearly 3 to 4 miles or 10mins to settle on 2 bars of the temp gauge, which i think is incorrect anyway, have driven c3 1.4 HDI's and picasso 1.6 HDI and they ALL register midway on the gauge, although the c3 did get to temp within a few minutes max. The idle speed sits just under 1000rpm, which i think is too high. The dealer said there is nothing wrong, the 2.0 runs cooler!!! sounds like bulls**t to me. Also there is little or no engine brake at lower speeds and rpm, the higher gearing makes this worse. Any ideas or similar experiences? Terry
  25. My C3 had a 5 disc changer, if you use it under the stock headunit in that useless cubby hole then the small connecting cable, which should have been supplied with the changer!! as they are expensive from Citroen (isn't everything? - lol  ), plugs straight into the back of the radio/CD, but you will have to take to Citroen to 'mate it to the car', costs from zero to £30.
