I agree with C1Millstone. These cars are not perfect and it is good to discuss the other side of the coin. If I had to stick silcon on a brand new car to stop the leaks I wouldn't be happy at all with it. Wake up and complain......... I personally love my C1 as nothing will be cheaper to run. After seeing a 4X4 at the gas station recently puting in £80 I just couldn't live with a car like that now after having the C1. I've had very few problems with it and the Toyota build quality of the engine is shinning through. Down sides are the cost of a service. I was mis quoted at £120 but they honoured it. £180 for what they do is a rip off. Other downside is some of the cheapness as I don't think these cars will make old age. The engine isn't very refined when you compare it to my partners Corsa 1.2 that is older. I think a good balanced aregument on here is very productive but these forums are to help people with problems, not gloat about who has the best car.

My car crunchies when putting it in second gear when it is cold. It sounds like the Syncromesh has gone but it might just need adjusting as at times it doesn't slip in to gear very well. Anyone else had this?
-
Most new cars have one peice exhaust but this can be cut in to three sections when bits of it need replacing. Mine is only a year old but has always sounded sporty, baffly. Can't you just live with the sporty noise? Small exhausts are expensive. If they replace it under warranty I'd be surprised, how many miles has your car done?
-
You don't have to go to a main dealer to still be in warranty. They use this as a tool to keep on charging those excessive amounts which they have to do to pay for the franchise. Car Makers have been fined for this before and at that price I would take the risk and get the work done by a cheaper dealer. Also I would get a second opinion as they do like to change things early to get that extra money in.

My car has so many rattles I wouldn't know where to start. One coming from the passenger seat sounds annoying as its tingy. The other main one is from the boot but I think that is the parcel shelf. These are great cheap to run cars but after 9 months I'm beginning to suspect the build quality and whether it will last a long time........ Anyone else out there supsecting the cheap build quality? To be fair I would still buya nother one. I drove a year old Focus diesel yesterday and even though it had had a hard life although it still had only done 13K miles, it was really rattly and noisy yet it is twice the price!!!!!!

How much are the C1 official alloys? If the price of the chrome gearknob is anything to go by I would imagine they are costly. If anyone has a link to pics of their C1 with Alloys and Spoilers I would like to see them.

When engaging second gear on cold mornings I get a crunching sound as if the syncomesh has gone, any ideas?

I was told you only get two years warrenty if you don't buy from a main dealer. I got a certifcate for the third year to prove I had bought it at a main dealer. Otherwise you can get a C1 Cool for £6,500 with Met paint and Aic Con?
-
You should see the things they say about the C2, now that is negative. Would put you off for life. The C1 is a great car but it is good to be able to come on here and discuss problems......
-
I think you'll find that when newly desgined cars first come out they never have the time to totally test them out. It always takes a year or two to iron out the problems as tested by us public. Hence if you can avoid buying newly designed cars and wait till they have been making the model you desire a few years then you'll find the reliabilty level a lot higher.

At £50 I find it a little expensive. Does it screw on and is it a snug fit?
-
Mine is an 07, maybe they cured the problem after yours. Anyone else with a late 07 that has water leaks?
-
I find the C3 so boring to look at when compared to the C1's and C2's but can see why you did it. Unfortunatley Toyota didn't make the diesel........ I asked for my mats and got it in writing!!!!!!! I had an arrogant sales person in the Ford garage and I walked out.
-
The thousands who respond to JD Power Surveys can't be wrong? Citroen tend to make and build terrible cars. I'm surprised your Dads BX hasn't had the hydraulic suspension failure? It just strikes me when people moan about their Citroen going wrong, especially the C2, and complain, if you buy rubbish, you get rubbish. Sorry if it is upsetting but some car makers should have gone years ago, like Rover, who I would have to say were even worse......... Agree not all cars will be of poor quality but makes like Citroen will have a higher number than Toyota etc.
-
How old is your car Colin as mine is an 07 reg and it has never suffered any leaks...... if I had the problems you guys were having I would have driven it through there showroom window and got my money back!!!!!!!
-
Your problem is that Toyota make most of the car, except the lights and the diesel engine which is made by Citroen. What they make is rubbish so I would warn people of the diesel, especially as the petrol can manage 60MPG and is far cheaper. What are you going to do, sell it on E-Bay?
-
If you had one bad experince from them then why buy another Citreon?

I went down to the Main Dealer in Colchester Friday, who are excellent for service by the way, and they fixed the noise. It was the tiny plate that hangs down between the ball joint and the brake disc. It just had to be bent slighty away from the brake disc, simple as that. The mechanic said he very rarely sees these cars as they just don't often go wrong. I mentioned it was probably because it was built by Toyota rather than Citroen!!!!!!

Tailgate spoiler £90 Front spoiler and foglamp kit £330 Alloy 14" wheels £127 Aluminium gearknob £49.35 Aluminuim look dashboard kit £133 Chrome tailpipe £40 The Tailgate Spoiler does look the part. The car I test drove had this with stripes down the centre of the bodywork which looked effective. Is that £127 per wheel? The gearknob looks good, but a bit pricey although I tried fitting a third party one but it looked naff as the stem is very long. Might be tempted to do some stuff at my first service.......
-
I tried hitting the brakes as I turned left but the noise stayed, even if it was out of gear. It has its first 10K service soon so I'll mention it then. I get the impression after 10K miles it is not as well built as I first thought and I'll be surprised if it makes old bones. Still a great car though for the price, I would totally recommend it.

Better than losing the wheel trim down the motorway!!!!!!!
-
I like the firm ride as it means it can corner better and has far more stability at speeds unlike a lot of small cars. You'll be hard pressed to damage a car by going over bumps..... On another note I have noticed when turning left on junctions that I get a chinky rattle coming from the front wheel. You can only hear it with the window open and the stereo off so it could have been their all the time. Anyone else have this? I guess these cars have a lot of these charecteristics as called by manufacturers!!!!!!!
-
You could just change the tyres to low profile hence reducing size of the wheel as in 195/45 R15's?
-
Its fairly obvious that you have left your recirc switch on. Its the sliding dial in the middle of the bit that lights up in the centre of the dash below the stereo. If this is not the case then the switch is broken and its jammed on. Mine is a C1 Cool and even though it takes a longer time to warm up than a Ford it clears well once warmed up. Excellent car so far......
