hta, Search the forum for the post Ticking Noise At Idle? I had a tapping noise but it turned out to be the cannister valve. You could hear it more in the car than outside, but it sounded like tappets. Could it be this?

Rich, I think it is advisable for owners of second hand C4's to check for recalls, if the seller has not transfered the information to the original dealer, how are they to know about them? As you say you can't rely on VOSA website. Better to be safe than sorry!

The VOSA site takes a while to be updated. here is a link to another C4 forum http://www.c4owners.co.uk/plugins/content/....php?content.10 that shows recalls, they show the latest recall as Manufacturer Ref: XYS with no details. My latest recall has a Manufacturer Ref: XYT. As your car is relatively new I presume all modifications would have already been carried if out necessary. Not all recalls affect all C4's, if in doubt contact your dealer.

Does it really take that long to do a clutch on a C4!

If you push the end of the right hand stalk (washer control) it toggles through the three displays shown on your screen The first one is a symbol of a car showing mileage available on fuel left, average miles per gallon and distance to destination if set. Next is 1 showing mileage done since reset- average mpg - average speed. Most people use this between fill ups. You reset this by depressing and holding in the end of the stalk while on this setting. Next is 2 the same as above, I have not touched this since getting my car, so it shows me mileage done - average mpg and average speed since new. Again this can be reset in the same manner. Never heard mine, 1.6 petrol

The handbook actually reccomends 98 ron for the petrol models. My brother works for a petrolium company and says performance aside the cleaning agents in them look after the engine more. I suppose it depends on your mileage with regards to the cost, as I don't do a lot of miles I always fill up with the higher octane.

Definitely BMW drivers followed by smaller Mercedes and it's not sour grapes, they just think they are above everybody else and the rules of the road don't apply to them. Ford Focus's are just so common and can't cut it for looks compared to the C4.

Sorry to hear that, we take pride in our cars and some jealous git always has to spoil it. I agree with wozza this country has gone to s**t no discipline no morals. My youngest son is thinking of emigrating to New Zealand and I'm begging him to go, this country holds nothing for you youngsters.

Thanks kfk, it's that in my manual it says fill between the max & min markings.

Decided to check my oil & water all ok. But how do you get the cover covering the coolant & screen-wash reservoirs off? I don't want to force anything.
