Sound similar to what i had a couple of years ago as you might know the linkage on the c3 is cabled joining a selector at the gear box end you may get away with having this greased up if not some early c3s had a plastic part on top of the selector mechanism which was plastic and warped causing the same problems. Its worth greasing first as we have had a lot of salt on the road of late .Linkage change looks tricky in the manual best left to a garage

Yes its at the gearbox end had mine replaced twice now metal with a swivel joint much better

Im not claiming anyone works for citroen but i do know people who have in the past and i m on first name with the service guys at my garage ( so many visits) they all used to work for marshalls in bedford before it closed down .Most of these guys have worked on citroen cars for years and all go out on training courses for when citroen bring out new cars at slough and he even said that citroen uk rely to heaverly on there computer diagnosies equipment which is why i surgested that allan fc got a second opion ive nothing against independant repairs in fact if i wanted a second opion on something thats one place to start . My point was that its a fact we expect alot more out of our cars than say 10 years ago if you had a problem it was fixed end of story but having to take a car back again and again and then they dont know how to fix is very poor considering its only 4 years old And after the amount of problems ive had with mine ive got good reason not to be happy with citroen uk
-
Im sorry to hear your problems its c**p if the main dealer cant sort out your problem it may be worth getting a second opion i had alot of trouble with mine and the main dealer couldnt find out what the probs were .took it to a inderpendant and after a couple of trips sorted it out (Leak of water onto the electric cabling) its shocking how Citroen get away with things like this but i dont think its just citroen ive had the same with Ford vauxhall honda and pug so im of the opion that for all the tech that they put into new cars they arnt training the staff to deal with it good luck

Sounds like it could do with re gasing i would run the car see if there is a trickle of water under the car this is a good way to see if the refridgerator unit is working if you have just brought it from a dealer to get it fixed the climate control wont work properly if there isnt any gas in the aircon a service for this is £70 at a main dealer so its worth shopping around
-
Sounds like it could be a fuel pump problem any garage will soon pick up the problem with there test gear i wouldnt get rid just because of other horror storys on this site mines not been great but it seems ok at the moment
-
Just read the qutoes on this site Erm think about ofering a bit less the xtr may be a top of the range job and will lose more of its value quicker than lesser models .Must say the newer c3 is a better bet than the mk1 and dont forget a new c3 is out next year (even though its more of a mini mpv than before). My experiance is countless trips to the garage for niggles and a few major jobs but ive had it 3years a its done 37000 miles on thing is its worth about 4000 grand now

Having seen the garage test my car last week it shouldnt take a few seconds to find out the problem with your car could be any number of sensors hope for you it isnt the one under the fly wheel had mine luckly replaced under warranty four hours labour for a £20 part aint going to be cheep :D

Had so many probs in the past i was expecting the worst but hey not so bad after all have wrote to my local tesco store over the quality of its fuel also found out that im not the only one having probs :D

Cant be the turbo as car is running fine had fuel filter fitted the other was full of water? work that one out since it had only been serviced 2500 miles ago very odd
-
Its done 35000 miles spoke to guy at citroen in bedford he thinks it maybe a airflow sensor playing up just as well i extended the warranty

Noticed when i drove yesterday a real lack of power i have to realy put my foot down to make it move then it will pick up normaly then go flat again any ideas mines a 1.4 16v hdi :)

My mk1 manual has the worst looking gear knob its scratched to bits (due to wedding ring) cheep nasty bit of plastic .I have noticed that the mk2 has a metal one can this be fitted ? a how much do they go for any ideas
-
After my misfortune at the dealers where my c3 had a nasty meeting with a picasso ,I was shocked to see how much the body parts for the c3 cost frount wing £400  .Thats not cheep glad the insurance payed out for the damage .But it is a bit worrying when the car gets a bit older a slight knock and it could be a right off .I take its the odd shape of the c3 curves on the wings that=high cost. By the way i was given a pug 207 was like driving a 306 and about the same size ,a bit of a let down in terms of power 1.4 is a slug

Realy not good enough .You see tv programs like rogue traders and you see some back street dealer trying there luck, but you don't expect it from a main dealer :(

Having previously mentioned back in febuary about a nice cheep service in luton. The guy who serviced my car then said"You need new frount and rear discs mate".Well at the time i only had enough funds for the frount ones ,so when taking my car into a aproved garage in bedford on monday i expected to have the guy phone me up and say"your rear discs are warn out"but not the case instead i find that theres no wear on the rear discs and that the garage in luton where trying there luck. I dont know if citroen when aproving these garages check up on them but my trip to luton could of cost me more than i expected or needed! Ihave sent a e-mail to citroen about my concerns .I know im ok with the garage in bedford as they all used to work at the main dealer where i brought my c3 before it clossed down . One disapointment was some prat drove into my car in car park just as i picked it up Doh!!! Looks like another couple of days with a sliddy door 10007 <_<

Got to take mine in for a third service have been 10 months since the last one and another 12000 miles £250 for third service isn't to bad .Just wondering how much they would charge at a main dealer.
-
Sounds like a new motor to me as with most new cars sealed unit problems = lots of £ to the dealers
-
Ah thats a new rear windscreen job well it was in my c3 i intend to keep hold of my c3 for a few years yet so am extending the warranty just in case something else goes wrong
-
I take it that he drives the c3 mk2 Had a good look round one the oyher week at the motor show shame they all seem to be made on a friday
-
Have posted this before but the problems your having where the same as mine take it back in aparantly citroen have re designed the linkage and its made a real improvement on my c3 Problems start owing to part of the linkage was made of plastic and when hot gets out of shape causing probs :D
-
Well im not overly impressed its very jerky and slightly pointless you might as well get a proper autobox or a manual .I wouldnt like to think what could go wrong with it ive had more than my fair share of those with my c3 and the novelty would soon wear off .The rest of the car is a bit of a cross between the c2 and c3 realy apart from the elecky doors . Thankfully my c3 is ready again new back bumper and underside bar.
-
Had the miss fortune of being hit up the back side on sunday by someone who was not insured on sunday :D so there goes £200 excess and i doubt if ile see that back rental car is a pug 1007 semi auto box? i feel a bit lazy using it plus its a bit jerky .What i dont get is the electric doors why? the over sensitive key fob is a real worry ie opening the doors from inside my house .Also it seems like a boxy c3 .Only drove it yesterday and it seems like everyone is staring at you a rare sight on our roads then mk3 c3 eleky doors ? erm no thanks

Car fixed at last an d a warning to all of you c3 owners! It turns out that there is a real problem with the c3 window sreen washers leaking leading to water entering the electrics .If thats the case and by all accounts pretty common then why arnt citroen uk recalling or looking into having this work done when the car is serviced? The amount of time ive wasted at my dealer just for a small piece of plastic and a cm of sealer  Fingers crossed im might get to avoid the dealer till the next service
