    C5 Faults

Worth having the battery tested as well mine was doing alsorts before found out it had a dead cell
  3. Thats good I think I did just replace the whole arm on the bx as the bearings where so warn they where rusted into the arm themselfs Not such a problem at the looks of things apart from being well hiden compared to the old bx arhh wish i kept in now (warn out rings on a 1.6)
  4. Free fix erm no it was not in the end. Knuckle joint is actually the arm itself according to the guy at citroen in bedford. They loosened the whole arm off no noise tighten it all back and hey presto back again yes my worst fears RAIDUS ARM BEARING!!!! the thing is they re designed them before they built the c5 on the old bx and xantia it was a case of /--------\ but not anymore if they start cracking of you get loud creaking from the rear of your c5 get your wallet in for a nasty sting £350 for mine inc vat and fitting. Fair play to the garage though at least the found out the problem which is good news. The bearing comes as kit or you can buy the whole arm (Like you could do with the bx) but that £300 on its own so its about £100 plus fitting not an easy diy fix i wouldn't of thought but maybe in the future id have a go as i done both on my old bx before. One good bit of news is that the AA warranty are paying about £300 towards the cost phewww
  5. Free fix but no fix at all once again that horrid cracking creaky noise is back so back to the garage again dohhhhh Even the guys at Citroen are scratching there heads about this one its not the bearing or rear discs anyone on here had simler would be kind enough to post only had this car just over a month and now regret buying which is sad cause its got a great engine smooth (when not banging) suspension but if it carrys on like this i may just sell it on
  6. Took C5 to the garage for its Crecy rear suspension had a knuckle joint (What ever that is) greased up due to it being noisey I had noticed the cracking noise from the rear for the last couple of weeks and thinking the worst ie radius arm bearing ala BX and Xantia but no it wasn't Left the car at the garage all day when i returned car sorted and £nil !!! fantastic the reason was i had taken it in last week when they didn't fix it first time now thats what i call service ;) Only thing is im back in there with a noisey C3 on Friday as homer would say DOHHHHH!!!!!
  7. Having night mare with c5 been to two garages now with the same problem cracking noise from rear end. Its not the rear brake problem thats for sure but its still there. Had the garage take out rear subframe bolts and re aline rear axle ok for one day then hey presto back again can't aford to have these types of problems has anyone out there had the same problem
  8. Went into work this morning got what can only be discribed as a cracking noise from rear axel not happy with this if i lean on the rear it makes a real racket> Idon't think its the suspension but matbe that brake problem eiether way its got a aa warrranty so its booked in for next week just hope it aint a lemon like my poor old c3 :P Anyone else got any ideas give us a mesage as im taking to a non citroen place (which i aint happy about) so may shed some light on the problem :D
  9. Thats where i got my discs and pads from sound good to me aparntly you have to clap the brake line and bleed the line off into a jar while turning the piston back into the caliper.I have a rubber mallet so will use that to knock the discs off Kit on ebays fine but no pins or shims in the pack
  10. Checked the rear discs on my car after a few growley noises from the rear of the car found that the discs ar warped any idea how easy or hard it is to replace these bits.Would normaly leave these to a garage but sort of£'s so must diy
  11. As you look under the bonnet there is a very large plug with alot of wires coming out just to right of the water filler cap in between the metal part of the water intercooler and the airbox mines a16v 1.4 hdi sx had my car going backwards and forwards to the citroen dealer til the found out about this onre turned out it was leaking water down from the screen washer jets straight into this connector thats what caused mine to go into limp home mode several times and losing power at round abouts
  12. I have seen else where on this site it is possible to fit a six pack CD player into a c5 i have a lx version and was wondering if it has the wiring as the sx version
  13. Sounds like the sort of problems i had i would check the main connector under the bonnet big round one with lots of wires near the top left. Mine was water regresion and caused alsorts of problems maybe worth a look
  14. I have a c3 with a six stack factory fit cd player no probs till today went to park and turn car off as it was changing cds and nows its jammed any idears how to fix this would be a help ( bit worryed about unpluging anything electric out of a c3) :)
  15. Yes now ive got two citroens (am i mad ?) picked up a 51 plate for£2390 100000 on the clock full citroen service history :( and they are going to service again before i pick it up (New cam belt) :D
  16. Was thinking of getting aloy wheels for my c3 what rim size would i need to keep hold of my standard 15/185/60's don't want to waste money on new tyres as well
  17. Thinking of buying a zx are they any good i have a c3 at the moment and could do with a second car. I previously owned a Peugeot 306 which i understand is very simler in many respects
  18. Hi all just a thought to anyone out there who gets a orible rattle coming from the foot well of there c3 mine started about three weeks ago coming back from Manchester .Could not find where it was coming from  gave up today and took to my local garage a part of the air con piping had come loose and was hitting into the bulkhead but only when i was decelerating if you find yourself with an odd and anoying rattle look at that first
  19. My airbox is making alot of noise on my c3 1.4 diesel 16v anyone else had this problem seems to be lose at the back and stops if i pull the box forward
  20. That because they will be replacing the c3 sooner than you think new c3 could be out in the next 10 to12 months and no c2 thats going to replaced as well hope its built better than this model the new c5 looks good
  21. yep you have no chance on the passenger side exept to take the headlight out .other thing is it is very time consuming as water can hide deep at the frount of the headlight
  22. Worth buying the diesel servicing is a bit dearer though. Also you have to think how many miles are you going to cover 1.1 petrol is a bit wezzy. I have a 16v diesel but have driven 8 v version both ok and very good mpg
  23. Spoke to my garage this morning after mot on my c3 they are recalling 36500 c4 s he claimed that one pug 307 caught alight  as a result psa are recalling all of the vehicles fitted with this abs part .Saab and vauxhall also affected. What is worrying for all you c4 owners is that citroen uk has not got enough spare parts to cover all the recalls at this time :(

    Moduboard

They where standard on the sx up to 2004-2005 and now they seem to be an extra fit :D
  25. Went to garage after i noticed o/s headlight was misted up they took one look and said oh yes new headlight think ok have extended warranty wouldnt be a prob exept it dont cover lights :D .There was no way i was going to pay £100 for a new one plus prob an hours labour charge so had a look myself found the rubber seal had gone (odd as ive never touched the o/s headlamp before) full of water .Removed the bulbs and using kitchen towel removeed the excess water .The with the use of a hairdryer bingo no condensation replaced rubber seal (£3) and sprayed with wd40 .No damp in headlight now :D prob saved myself £200
