  1. I think you are just noticing the inherent lack of balance in a straight three cylinder engine. If they'd made it a flat two like a 2CV there would be less vibration.
  2. I've listened out for this, and I can hear a tappet like noise at idle. It isn't noticeable with the windows closed but is definitely audible with them open. I hope this helps <_<
  3. Not really, the gearing is surprisingly high, I was able to cruise at 70mph while running in :)
  4. Welcome to the forum :D It's a good idea to write in lower case, if you use capitals it makes it hard to read  When you get your car you'll almost certainly be told you don't need to run it in. However, on page XIX of the end section of the handbook is says: Running-in period. During the first 1000miles following the following..... will optimise the performance......and long term reliability of your vehicle. Pull away and accelerate gently, drive at moderate road speeds and avoid high engine speeds. If you have a rev counter limit revs to 2/3 maximum. Do not drive for long periods at high road speeds Avoid harsh braking From 600 to 700 miles(petrol) the road speed and revs can be increased progressively. Note maximum performance will not be reached until the engine has run for 3000miles.
  5. Good points. I do swap the tyres round though, because with the different wear rates you can end up with very old rear tyres and brand new fronts which has the same effects. So when the fronts have worn down I put the new tyres on the rear and swap the old rears to the front
  6. Thanks for that tip  The beep was driving me mad the other day, so I've silenced it :)
  7. I'm glad you didn't try his car, I'm sure you would've really embarrassed him then
  8. How did you find it on the track? I assume you took the outside edges off the front tyrespretty quickly, but were the brakes up to it?
  9. So far I've been getting 44mpg, but 90% of that is short journeys around town :D I'm sure it would be well into the fifties give a few long runs, but the family always want to take our Berlingo :)
  10. The servicing is every 10,000 or annually. I have to say that much further than 10,000 isn't good for an engine anyway. These 20,000+ mile service schedules are for people who buy a new car every 3 years and never go past about 50,000 miles, so they never see the effects of the blocked oil ways  If you buy the 3 door seriously consider buying the Vibe model. You don't need central locking with so few doors, and the only thing I'd miss is the tachometer which you can fit for £100
  11. Welcome to the forum  I like the mud flaps at the back of your car
  12. Interesting you should say that, I like the Peugeot yellow, but the Citroen yellow is slightly green and makes the car look unwell. The reason I went for the C1 (in red!) was our dealer has been very good over the last 10 years with other Citroens we have owned (we have quite a good rapport with the parts man B) ), and at the time the deal was very good :)
  13. Welcome to the forum :D I hope you enjoy your C1 as much as I'm enjoying mine :D
  14. Turboslag put it very well  I think the main reasons are: 1. Light weight- means the economy and performance are better than you'd expect, and the skinny tyres have an amazing level of grip  2. Characterful engine- it's always willing to rev and sounds better than a lot of much more expensive cars, but it has enough torque to keep up with traffic without too much effort. 3. Cheeky looks  4. It is a proper new modern mini car, that gives you a lot of space in a tiny package. The new MINI and Fiat 500 are both a pastiche of the originals which are bigger have less space relative to size and cost more. I think you could argue the C1/107/Aygo are much more the true descendants of the original mini than the current one :)
  15. Looks good to me
  16. Definitely go back to your dealer and complain, it shouldn't be like that. I think the clutch isn't releasing fully, and the sooner you get it fixed, the better
  17. Welcome to the forum 'slag
  18. Too right, it's a great little car
  19. There's only just enough clearance for the front discs with the 14 inch wheels, so you'd definitely need new wheels! I've found the brakes to be fine. Either her cars brakes are faulty in which case you'd better to take it in, or she's bought the wrong car and had better swap it for a hot Clio or a Civic type R! By the time you've fitted wider tyres and bigger brakes and paid modified car insurance, I think changing the car would be cheaper
  20. Welcome to the forum  I know someone drove round the M25 at 50mph in two C1s. They got 83mpg from the deisel and 85mpg from the petrol
  21. If you think a C1 rolls, you should try a 2CV ;) They had a competition to roll a 2CV, and I think it proved impossible without hitting a kerb! Mine certainly used to lean over a lot, and I had it on 3 wheels several times :D Seriously, a C1 is going to slide well before it is danger of rolling over on those skinny tyres. The main problem is staying in the seat when driving at those speeds :)
  22. From what I've read on other forums, and the feel of the car, most of the body roll is due to tyre deformation when cornering. The springs are already fairly firm, and people have posted on the 107 forum to say that the body roll decreases noticeably with lower profile tyres. However, wider tyres with ruin fuel consumption and make the ride worse, so your girlfriend may well wish to keep it as it is! I have to say I like it with narrow tyres, if you ignore the body roll and drive smoothly there is already far more grip than you need with only 67bhp ;)
  23. No idea about the paint code I'm afraid.
  24. I have heard of people removing these parts and painting them themselves, so I'm not sure they are available in red. I had a quick look on the 107 owners club site, but you might want to check there as well ;)
  25. The 107 is similar to the C1, but the 106 is the older model similar to a Saxo, so it won't fit ;)
