  1. My 08 exclusive tourer changes the mirror positions with the seat memory. When selecting reverse it will move the r/h mirror or decide it dosnt want to or occasionally the l/h mirror. I just put it down to it being a citroen.
  2. Could be something todo with the two ride heights that the car automatically switches between depending on road conditions and speed? Smooth roads the newer c5 will lower itself, rough roads it will raise again. Not sure if it reverts to one or the other when turning off. I know mine will drop again if i stop on a rough road.
  3. One of the gas struts will be dead. A easy pop off pop on part. Get someone to hold the boot up while you take one off then gently lower the boot. If its made no difference youve taken the knakered one off, if the boot feels twice as heavy youve taken the good one off. Of course both could be shagged.
  4. Is the rear right hand side of the subframe covered in it? If it is check the steering rack seal. Also could it be fuel?
  5. Wheel balancing if not already checked. As above check for lumps and bumps. Does the vibration come and go with application of the throttle if it does this could point to a inner cv joint being knakered.
  6. What kind of oil would help narrow it down.
  7. Cant think of anyway to make that work you could connect the pump and make it run but the valves are controlled by the ecu which will need info from other ecus before it even thinks of working. Then the risk of upsetting frying said ecu on top.
  8. You can see the shaft but not particularly well through the drivers side wheek arch. Best way to check it is to remove the cover and runber boot in the foot well. If i rember rightly its just a couple of 10mm bolts and maybe a couple of plstic clips slide it up the shaft and its easy to see.
  9. Steering rack seals are common to fail some have been traced to a rusty input shaft so greasing that should prevent that problem. This leak often looks like the pipe to rack seals are leaking and they get changed and still the rack leaks so be sure to double check the input shaft seal. Frequent oil and filter changes is due to what seems to be a high turbo failure rate due to the turbo oil feed filter blocking.
  10. Id cut out as much of the wire before and after the hinge as practical then solder and heat shrink a better quality of wire in its place.
  11. I know that on my 08 tourer the 12v socket stays live until economy mode kicks in so a solar charger wouldnt work but the socket in the boot stays live and could be used.
  12. A piece of sound deadening or a cover of some sort been discarded/dislodged or fitted out of place?
  13. Can you turn the wheel when the car is stationary? As in is the power assist working? Just trying to get an idea of how heavy the steering is if its just a bit heavier than before could be as simple as tracking is now different to before. The speed sensor if it had one sits on a small peg on the input of the rack youd of had to unplug it if you had one. Possible installation faults The pipes should only fit on one way if my memory serves me so that rules out plumbing problems. Correct fluid been used? Between the rack and subframe on mine were some poor quality washers,if these have been fitted to one side and not the other that could possibly make the rack stiff but unlikely in my eyes.
  14. If you can get the car over a pit ideally or on axle stands would do get under it and give suspension and wheels etc a good shake. Dont go under the car without stands it may actually try to kill you. Alternatively anyone in the boot we should know about?
  15. For 3 months just over inflate the tyres a bit.
  16. Often the suspension will level its self after everyone has got out and the pump will do its thing for a few seconds.
  17. Mine throw up a fault if the tow bar cover isnt perfectly straight or ive got a glob of wax covering one.
  18. Dosnt sound like your water ingress problem is the same as mine was but ill stick mine up as it may help someone. The door drain holes had blocked causing the door to fill with water that found a hole in the plastic lining and soaked the rear footwells.
  19. I have the electronic hand brake and it will not engage if the car is moving it will just bong and flash up on the dash. I know because i tried it to see if it would do handbrake turns :)
  20. So long as the rack is central, same number of turns to full lock left and right your installed just fine. Could be that the tracking was out before and your just used to how that felt?
  21. Some ive got a 08 tourer and i believe its a x7 in the mysterious X7 may have something to do with the platform its based on .
  22. I did my rack in the straight ahead position. Disconnected the old one in the straight ahead fitted the new one and connected the steering column last so i could make sure the rack was in the straight ahead. The rack comes out of the right hand side easiest its getting it to rotate so that the input shaft comes out and clears everything that makes dropping the subframe easier. With the studs removed it should be doable with some swearing. Double check with whoever supplies the rack that its for a 2008 on car i had two suppliers send a old rack. The correct rack ended up being 250 if i remember correctly which was still 750 lass than a new one from citroen.
  23. I left all the steering and suspension parts hooked up to the subframe. Unbolted the subframe from the chassis and rear engine mount. Lowered it on a jack by 3 or 4 inches slid rack out new one in. Subframe went back up and located easily onto its mounting points.
  24. Hi the good news is that the seals should be replaceable with the rack still fitted, would be a tight sqeeze and lead to cut up hands to do though. My c5 is the 140 2.0 diesel, to change the rack it is possible without dropping the subframe if you have a stud extractor to get the steering rack studs out. I lowered the sub frame as it is only something like 9 bolts to do and made it alot easier. Before lowering the subframe make sure to remove the hoses that are secured to it. Check the condition of the input shaft before deciding what to do as if its corroded badly the new seals may not seal against it.
