Conti sport contact in 245/45/18 on my new shape estate. Expensive but they grip well in dry and wet. Had bridgestone potenzas on when i got it and they were noisy and appalling in the wet.

Turbo change isnt to hard its just taking the time to flush out the intercooler the exhaust that people leave and wonder why it still smokes like alot. I say its not hard that relies on no exhaust bolts snapping :)

New shape c5s are springs or spheres. Spheres are fitted to all exclusive's estate or saloon and 2ltr 2.2ltr autos in vtr spec if i remember rightly from when i was shopping for mine. Not sure about the flywheel mines on 90k and no sign of any problems. Id like an auto v6 but the 2.0 6speed manual ive got is still a quiet relaxed drive.

I didnt get a handbook with mine just spent a morning sitting on the drive loading cds into the hdd stereo and pressing everybutton to see what it all does.

I get back to my car in 5 weeks and will find out for definite but i think its the scroll wheel that changes the dash between displays. Get to the large mph screen then press and hold to change units.

Welcome. Good choice of car. The 1.6 is a good little motor as you say its not going to win any traffic light races. Be sure to keep ontop of the oil, filters and the turbo oil feed pipe gauze at service time. Id be tempted to do them straight away just for peace of mind.

I have a basic code reader for 04 onwards for diesels 01 onward petrol. Just does engine codes. Will post in the c5 section I. A few months as I'm working away for a few months.

Black smoke when accelerating hard is more likely to be a restricted air filter or a boost leak I'd check the condition of the air intake pipes the air cooler and filter housing before pulling injectors.

That sounds like a great motor at a great price. On the chipping and insurance issue it's best to contact your insurance and ask them if it would have any effect on your premium and cover before you go ahead with it. Some insurers aren't bothered and it changes nothing just as long as its declared. Others will up the premium or refuse to insure. If you don't declare it as a mod it can potential be used as a way to wriggle out of paying a claim. I'm running a 58 exclusive with all the toys aswell perfectly reliable car. It is slightly smaller than the mk1 and facelift cars,I'm 6'3" and fit comfortably in the back with the front seat in my normal driving position so it's far from camped in there. The finish and feel of the interior is huge leap from the older cars you'll be very happy to spend long drives in it.

I will be around and contributing to the forum I do all my own servicing and repairs unless I'm in a particularly cant be arsed mood :) so will take pics and do a little write up whenever I do anything interesting or out of the ordinary on the car. Only problem is that touch wood ithe big ole bus is rather reliable. All I've done so far is service new discs and pads and a new battery as the original was getting a bit tired.

58 plate exclusive estate in dark metallic blue. Absolutely love it only thing I'd replace it with is another 1 :) Has the 18 inch wheels on only buckled 1 of them hitting a monster pot hole and knakered the tyre whoopsy.
