  1. I always let my partner do it!
  2. I wonder whether this car has had its DPF (or FAP) drilled out or removed?
  3. If you're looking for a NEW C5 Exclusive 2l. Tourer have a look here: https://www.uk-car-discount.co.uk/news/best-new-car-deals-2015 They quoted me £20777 for one with metalic paint and rear lateral air bags (about £7K off list).
  4. ....and Diesel is much cheaper Euro 1.07 = 80p per litre!!!
  5. Couldn't be something simple like one of the wear indicators has come adrift and occasionally earths itself as the car is driven? That would explain the intermittency.
  6. I usually use Supermarket fuel both in the UK and France and have found that I get slightly more mpg (around 60) in France than the UK (around 58). However, that might be because the roads are less crowded and so much better!
  7. Best of luck if you're looking for a Tourer (Estate) Exclusive - there seem to be about 3 for sale in the UK!
  8. Thanks for that. Incidentally, having owned diesel Bxs and a Xantia (and reading the owner's manual) I always let the engine run for about 20 secs before driving off - and then not flooring it for at least a couple of miles. This lets the oil get around and perhaps is why I haven't had turbo trouble. (Now that's tempting fate!!)
  9. 2005 1.6 HDi VTR 112K - usually 57 - 60mpg but dropped to 54 with A/C on from Calais to home (105 miles - mostly @ 70 ) as car kept steaming up with wet passengers!! (Forgot to say filled up at Calais with French supermarket diesel @ about 80p/ltr - 106.9 Euros)
  10. This post from 2011 is "Hot". The latest response was from Paul.h in 2013. What does "Hot" actually mean please?
  11. "When the last bar goes out, there are approximately 2 litres of fuel remaining in the tank." ..and you risk blocking the fuel filter with all the rubbish in the tank.
  12. 75 Amp hours is fine but should have 650 or more CCA (Current drain when cranking the engine) for diesel C5s, which most "heavy duty" batteries will have . Not sure about the economy mode problem (if it is one) as my C5 went into eco mode after about 10 mins on the quay at Calais after driving 450 miles up through France! I just turned the engine on for a couple of mins and after switching off eco mode came back after10 mins or so. (Just another Citroen quirk?)
  13. Did you replace it with a new DMF or the Valeo conversion (solid flywheel + clutch plate with "long" springs)? Had mine replaced (car stopped on double yellows - very popular!) with the conversion and so far it's fine, just had to get used to slightly different feel. Should have said that it knocked a lot for about 400 miles before failing completely!
  14. http://www.manualslib.com/manual/397822/Citroen-Relay.html?page=2#manual Maybe this is what you want. Otherwise go to the service.citroen website and register as a "other professional" (I think) and member of the Citroen Owners Club. You should get a UID and password and then, by logging in access "Commercial" and then the Relay area. (at the bottom right you can change the language to English (United Kingdom)). (I hope paul.h will correct any of the above if it's incorrect!)
  15. Rain at last and, so far, none in the footwell. Waiting for Wednesday's forecast storms to be fairly confident that water must be entering through the sunroof.
  16. "The recommended oil is 5W/30 low saps fully synthetic oil." I use Total Quartz INEO 5W @ £20.79 for a 5l. can from Parks (as recommended by Citroen). .
  17. Hi there - just found this that seems to be what you're looking for: http://shop.euroimpex.lt/en/dalis/17512/heater-resistor As you see the company's in Italy and the part is "used" however, at 12 Euros (+p&p) (about £8.50) it's probably worth a try!
  18. I meant from the POSITIVE BATTERY LEAD to vehicle earth! I have inserted this in to the previous post just in case this one to correct it is not read - Moderator edit
  19. Intermittent (partial) short circuit - not enough to make smoke - causing battery to discharge. Might be able to check if, when the motor won't turn over, remove key, remove positive battery lead, wait a few (say 5) minutes to let all circuits discharge and then do a resistance check from battery positive lead to vehicle earth. I think this should be an open circuit but with all the circuitry........? Just another thought - could it be a dodgy contact in the ignition keyhole? Might be worth squirting some WD40 or contact cleaner into the keyhole. PS - if you do remove battery lead you'll need to perform the BSI rigmarole after reconnecting! (Best of luck!)
  20. FYI - Michelin has replied saying that this is their recommended tyre for my C5 and it has been approved by Citroen. (Waiting to hear from Citroen UK now.)
  21. I need a new pair on the front of my 2005 C5 so, as I've always used Michelins, I went to their web-site and they recommended the new CrossClimate (215/55 R16 97V). When I looked to see who fitted the cheapest I saw a symbol which tells me that this tyre is reinforced! Michelin don't appear to make and unreinforced version of this tyre. I seem to remember reading on this forum that reinforced tyres shouldn't be used on my vehicle so.....? Anyway, I'll try asking Michelin and see what they have to say.
  22. I should point out that this IS NOT a feature of ANY Citroen I've owned. On my C5 the braking is very smooth and the "Emergency Brake Assist" feature is SPECTACULAR! (If this happens at,say, traffic lights, watch out for the car behind!!!)
  23. I've now taped around the sunroof to seal it from the elements to try to completely eliminate this as the problem area. Of course it hasn't rained since I did it and none is forecast for next week! (Also used loads of newspapers to dry out the footwell.)
  24. Could well be - especially if there are no warning lights or messages (Particle filter blocked, depollution system faulty etc.) which could mean it's in "Limp Mode". Best to find someone with a Lexia to check it out.
  25. Looking at the parts diagram on service.citroen it appears there's only one front drain pipe and a rear pipe - unless for clarity they just show one? There are certainly two at the front - one in each corner. Can't see the back ones though but the BX and Xantia had two at the front and two at the back.
